Yeah, I'm not overly excited about Gainesville, but it should be an awesome couple days. Dawgs in Jx, Dawgs in Gainesville, and some golf.

You'll have a good time. Was strongly considering that same trip myself until Richt announced he wouldn't be coaching. Lost some of the juice with that departure.

Man a win against Florida to start sec play would be amazing for this team.

I might be a little off here but I see an outside shot that Yante is preseason sec player of the year next year. Some fricking Kentucky freshman will probably get it though.

Nice. That should be a great trip. Do not miss living down there but that's a pretty enticing schedule. Enjoy!

Florida did end up losing and now are 8-4. They have lost to several good teams but hopefully we are mentally prepared to play.

SEC is gonna be a wild ride this year. Glad we salvaged our position to be in the tourney race though.

We could SO easily be 9-1 right now. Ugh.

At least we seem to be playing pretty good ball at the moment heading into conference play.

If ifs and buts were cheese and nuts we'd all have a merry Christmas...something like that.

It's good that we are this close to being really really good. I think we will be pretty solid next year, hopefully enough for another 20 win season. The year after, if Maten doesn't go pro early we might have a top 15 team if these guys develop like they should and stay healthy.

I don't think there's any way Maten can go pro early at his size. I might be wrong though.

We all said that about Trey Thompson and as of now I think Maten is on track to be better.

I agree with what your saying and he seems to have his head on straight.

If we can upset Florida, basketball is gonna get a huge lift in support. I'm already pumped about this game.

I just hope our fans continue to support the team regardless. It is a sloooooooooooooooow process with uga fans but we're starting to see now with the last 2 games, despite unfavorable outside factors, people are actually interested. You're right a win in gainesville would be massive. I just hope if we lose it's not a ghost town next hoem game.

This will be a large measuring stick for or program. In the past we have never played well there. I think as long as it is competitive it will give justice to the growth that Mark Fox has given this program. If not, it's okay it's just the nature of the beast in Gainesville.

Very true, which I hope people understand. I realize this isn't the same as the billy-era gators but we just do not ever play well there.

Trey Thompkins was 6'10 and a junior, Yante Maten is around 6"8. I definitely think he is or will be a better player at UGA, can't see him getting drafted if he left early.

I can't either but everybody and their mother could tell Trey Thompkins he wasn't going in the first round. He couldn't handle a double team worth a rip but he still went pro. Travis Leslie didn't even get drafted if I remember correctly and it was obvious he wasn't going to go in the first round. I just worry about Yante averaging over 20 per game next year and wanting to leave early.

About Florida, I just hope we are competitive, rebound, and play good defense. If we are within 8 points in the last 2 mins I'll be happy. I'll run around the neighborhood naked if we win.

I think they were both drafted by the Clippers. Leslie went D-league then to Europe. Not sure where he's at today

Yantes mom is a teacher and he's an incredibly bright kid. I wouldn't worry about him leaving early

I think so too...I just worry that if he did it would derail our program again like it did in 2011 or 2010, I forget. I just think he is a stud and as good of a big man as we have had in a long time. He will only get better as well. Just wish he was about 4 inches taller.
