We'll get Fluker back next season and I wouldn't be surprised to see us land Shipman. Obviously, getting guys like McFadden and Jackson will be a big help, too.

I think we'll need at least 4 DBs to be able to play right away. Hopefully that's some combination of Jackson, McFadden, Roundtree, a JUCO, Lewis, Harrison, McGraw, etc, and who knows, maybe Williams or Baker will be ready to go

That, along with Sanders, Fenteng, and Parrish would dramatically improve the talent level in the secondary

I think Terry and Wilkerson make an impact in the secondary next year, too.

I don't have high hopes for Wilkerson, honestly. Terry's got a chance though

Jake Rowe CB Abernathy to Vols tells me all I need to know. It will suck to lose a player at a position of need, especially one as talented as Micah.

It isn't great, but looking at the guys we are in good position for at the moment, if I had to lose one of them, I'm OK with that loss being Abernathy.

Damn. Yea that situation sounds awful. Feel so bad for his family.

I missed the post about Julian Jones (horrible situation, very tragic) and thought you were posting this about Micah probably going to UT. I was going to heartily agree.

1) All my sources (1 or 2) have suggested Abernathy has never been all that warm to UGA and that it'd surprise many of them to see him in Athens.

2) Hate it about that 2016 kid. It's been a rough week for recruits between that horrible situation and the 2015 kid who got catfished. Someone convinced him UF offered him and he committed in front of a school assembly only to find out he didn't have an offer.

3) Crow, gurus, how are we shaping up for that #1 CB we offered in JUCO?

Don't know yet, but my guess is UGA's about to go full bore after him when Abernathy commits to UT. Pruitt will be selling immediate PT hard, especially since UT is seen as the primary competition

Don't those DBs know willie is gonna be coaching them? And yea I know he had some good secondaries early in his career here but he's sucked the hind tit as a DB coach since then.

UT holds the relationship advantage in both cases

Yea and I guess ultimately that's one of the biggest things it comes down to (which makes sense assuming you feel a lot more comfortable with one staff). Especially when other family had already played for the same HC

Will mean jack shite if Butch keeps losing. Hillbilly natives are growing restless again. Dude has Donnan written all over him right now. Posting a worse record than Dooley to this point.

I agree, but that's why they're in a good spot for Abernathy and Martin

Totally. Martin I think we have a good chance with because I think his recruitment plays out a little bit longer. Abernathy is attempting to EE so no matter what his decision is, we'll have to watch to see if the losses continue to pile up for UTk. Could rattle the cage a little if Butch continues to reel.

I do think that the way he has been recruiting and the fact that the team had to replace starters on both LOS will buy him a little more time. Or I did before the UF game. I definitely think he's still here next season but that game really pissed off a lot of UT fans here. It's not like an OU where they knew they had no shot. Reminded some of the UF game in 2012 when game day was there.

But I'd love for them to keep losing to sow some discontent to help us haha

Oh, I definitely think he has 3 years minimum there (he has a six year contract). But if he keeps losing and Florida and Michigan are looking for new coaches this offseason, Vols are going to start panicking again. And let's say he magically starts winning games between now and the end of the year, he's from Michigan originally and would have to be on the Wolverine short list if he starts delivering. Either way, I don't think he's there in two to three years and that's something I'd be making a recruit aware of going forward.
