It is likely a foundation scholarship or something along those lines; if it was in any way, shape, or form a scholarship from the athletic association, the NCAA would have to frick OM'a world up or it would open a Pandora's box of bullshite scholarships to friends/family of highly rated players.

UGA apparently granted admission to a highly rated women's b-ball player's twin brother. I went to HS with them and James was a short, fat, borderline retarded son of a bitch and he got in to UGA while a lot more deserving folks were turned away.

We didn't pull his offer because we thought he would contribute, we pulled his offer because his grades were apparently horrible this past semester and he's only borderline to qualify.

If his grades were bad the semester before signing day, chances say they were never good to begin with. Bad planning on our part.

If they felt his grades would be ok unless he completely tanked (sounds like this is the case) then I have no problem with it. Neither did any of the other schools recruiting him.

The problem Freeze is going to encounter, though, is if 1.) he just offered it off the cuff without notifying the school of his plans, and 2.) if he didn't notify anyone, he just put the University in a very tight spot. You can't just start allocating money (essentially state funds, being a public institution) for the girlfriends of football players. Pushing her name to the top of the admissions pile is one thing; admissions is so messed up at colleges that she could easily make it in to a school. But whipping up the money for a 4 year free-ride is a clusterfrick for the school.

ETA: Not unless she has a 4.0 GPA and you can pass it off on academic scholarship. LSU has like the golden oaks schollies and all that. Doesn't sound like this chick has a lot going on upstairs, absed on her behavior

Kublanow say he's 'shocked'

Count Georgia commitment Brandon Kublanow among those who remain a bit mystified by the notion that five-star offensive tackle and good friend Laremy Tunsil has settled on Ole Miss.

"I was really shocked. Me and him have a pretty good relationship and I've pretty much talked with him a ton this past couple of months and he seemed locked into coming here (UGA)," Kublanow said Saturday. "We seemed like we were way in the lead and he was coming and then I woke up Friday and got a text that Laremy has shut it down and is headed to Ole Miss."

Along with early enrollee Tray Matthews, among others, Kublanow and Tunsil became fast friends when the two met for the first time during late spring when they both came to Athens for the annual Mark Richt Camp.

Later, the two became teammates in San Antonio, Tex. for the U.S. Army All-American game and over the past several months have stayed in constant contact with one another.

That's one of the things Kublanow says makes the situation so strange regarding what he hears about Tunsil, whose first trip to Oxford took place during last week's official visit. Tunsil is set to announce his decision on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. on ESPNU.

"It was pretty shocking, I'm pretty (ticked). I'm trying to get in contact with him, but he's shut everything down," Kublanow said. "I guess we'll just have to see what happens on Signing Day."

Kublanow said the two last spoke on Tuesday.

At that time, the news was good for Bulldog fans.

"I talked to him on Tuesday of this week and he said he was still coming (to UGA)," Kublanow said. "So I guess after the in-home visit with Coach (Hugh) Freeze … You never know. It might be something behind it, you never know. He might still end up signing with UGA on Signing Day. We'll see."

As for Kublanow, he's just glad there was never any drama involved with his decision and the four-star offensive lineman will sign with the Bulldog at 8 a.m. Wednesday.

He holds out hope that Tunsil will join him, too.

"It's a great opportunity here at UGA," he said. "But right now I've got no idea."

It's crazy how we spend all this time following recruiting throughout the year and everything we thought we knew about recruits or a class can be undone in a 24 hour period. Really we would be better off just paying attention to the last week or 4 days before NSD

it's like watching the NBA, all you really need to see is the ESPN highlights and the last few mins of the game.

but i have way more fun following the whims of these kids and then getting all flustered when they get swayed away by cash. not because they compromised their morals but because we won't compromise ours :(

Great analogy! It would be much less stressful to follow recruiting this way, I'm just like you, its just too entertaining to follow.

As I've been explaining on FSF, mama is gonna be realllllllly pissed off when little bro gets sent home because he didn't actually get the scholly he was promised.

You can't hand out full rides unless there is a viable reason for a scholarship to eb given. So unless bro and GF have 4.0's and qualify for full ride academic schollies, they're fricked

My brother goes to ole miss. Asked him what was going on w/ Tunsil. He says he knows the person paying him. Don't know how but I guess one of his fraternity brothers has a dad who is a booster or something.

I will. He's a bigger dawg fan than an om fan. Rooted for UGA when they came to Athens.

I really hope Ole Miss gets busted. I also wish the NCAA would announce they are investigating them before NSD to help us out with Tunsil. It's crazy how everybody knows what is going on and the NCAA is somehow the last to know
