Who are some names that could replace him? Are we still left with just hoping to get lucky with a mid-major coach, and have some success for four or five years before he leaves? Is there any chance of stealing a coach from a decent program? What about an out of work coach like bruce pearl? I really don't know what kind of draw we have as a program where people just really don't give a shite about basketball. But I'd love to hear some possible names from you guys.

im just going to throw howland out there. yes i personally have my own problems against him after his last 5/6 years in westwood but he can fricking coach a team when he has his players. he wouldnt have to deal with the constant pressure to play deep into march like he did at UCLA and it should be easier for him to not lose control of the program. we should go after him. thats just my .02

Tony Barone and Melvin Watkins might actually be an improvement.

I don't think we have ever been past the Sweet 16 but I believe he was the first to get us there with the 1980 team. Have to ask one of these old farts like finest or A4L to confirm.

You mean this donald Sloan game? Your bruins and the official really did a number on us.
Back to the coaches, I'd love to have howland here.

That would be Tim Higgins, the single worst official in the history of college basketball.
In fact, any official named Higgins is putrid.

Bruce Pearl is hopefully a realistic answer.

I think Pearl has been the consensus choice.

Do y'all think Hyman would hire him with that still in place? Hyman was at USC when all of the violations happened, so he surely won't have forgotten.

What does a that mean exactly?
Also I think a guy like pearl would be good because he's kind of crazy and could hopefully drum up some enthusiasm in the student body.

It means he can't contact recruits until August 24 of 2014. If a&m was to hire him prior to August 24, we would have to petition the NCAA on why the violations shouldn't carry over to us

Basically should any NCAA school hire him before that date, the penalties placed on him for the violations he committed at Tennessee would be enforced at his new school. In order for the school to get the penalties reduced or thrown out they have to go before an NCAA committee and "show-cause" for dismissal.
ETA: WCA got it.

I always bagged on Mark Turgeon. However, at this point I take it all back.
