can we agree that the proper course of action is to shift all blame to Uncle Nate by claiming he used Johnny's trust to enrich himself?

Would that work? I don't know the NCAA rules for this.

Worked for Cam.

Cam was let off b/c he never "knew" what his father was doing in his name.

I'm avoiding this topic in general (which is hard to do since every place I normally read news this is a prominent issue), but I did read this one from Dan Wetzel from Yahoo! He pretty much echoes my thoughts on the matter.

If not guilty, it goes away. If guilty, it's going to be a very hard case to prove without a smoking gun. Since the NCAA started this investigation at least 2 months ago with nothing happening so far, it's clear they don't have one. I think the leak was designed to get people talking because the case is likely DOA without some new info coming forward.

Unless some more evidence comes forward, Johnny should be able to walk. I don't have a lot of faith that "Uncle Nate" might blow everything up though.

One thing that has been bugging me is once again how stupid PM was to do the ESPN article. It put him on record as talking about his resentment his son can't profit off his name, how he resents A&M and the NCAA looking in to their business financially for compliance, and worst of all it talks about "Uncle Nate" as a paid personal assistant for Johnny. Oh, and that his son is making lots of stupid decisions.

How big of a media shitshow was practice today? Aside from reading boards on my phone I haven't been able to see much

Practice just started at 5:30 but practices are closed and the media is only allowed access for like the first 5 minutes so it's pretty much no issue.

Johnny is practicing in case there was any question

A&M officially lawyering up.

Per a source, Texas A&M has retained Lightfoot, Franklin and White law firm on Manziel matter. Same firm that repped Auburn/Newton.

Glad we got the Cam lawyers. Time to follow the script and play out the season.

I've been trying really hard all weekend to not let this ruin my Chicago trip.

I was there for lollapalooza this weekend...

Navy pier is kind of a requirement, they have a nice musuem plaza but its a little overpriced IMO. You have to get a Chicago style stuffed pizza. The sears tower (Willis tower) is cool, it's like 150 stories. If you'd rather not pay for sears tower, the Hancock building has a restaraunt and bar at 96-97 stories high. Pretty cool place to get a drink. My favorite part of town is going to a game at wrigley and then drinking in wrigleyville after. Especially if I get to see my Cardinals as bonus.

It's easiest to get around town on the L train/buses. You can get passes at the stations, or most convenience stores.

Chicago is a lot of fun, I did an internship 45 minutes outside of town. It is stressful if you have to drive a lot or if you're not used to people invading your space lol.

It will be interesting to see if these supposed tapes and recordings ever surface. I remember when the Cam Newton tapes "came out". Manziel is a dumbass and does himself no favors but ESPN certainly seems to be driving the anti-Manziel train

I don't understand why ESPN would refuse to use the videos if they are that damning. Wouldn't you think they would want to air that?
