This class was the combined result of a new coach less than 2 weeks before the inaugural Early Signing Period.

Out of the 23 members of that class, 1 left early for the NFL draft, 3 had to retire due to injury, 1 opted out this season and will likely transfer and 10 have already transferred.

That's an attrition rate of 14/23 or 61% in just 3 years. Of the non-attrition cases:

Leon O'Neal - Flirted with the transfer portal

Jalen Preston - Now or never for him

Bobby Brown - Starter

Max Wright - Almost had to medically retire. We will see how he does at TE

Jeremiah Martin - Emerging solid depth

Caleb Chapman - Now or never for him

Luke Matthews - Quality depth on OL

Jace Sternberger - 2nd round pick by Green Bay in 2019

Seth Small - Starter

Is there a point to this thread? Or are you just highlighting these players?

It's a topic of discussion. The main difference between the 2018 and 2013 classes is that 2018 was Fisher's first class cobbled together at the last minute while 2013 was the first FULL class from Kevin Sumlin. A secondary difference is that the attrition in the 2018 class was a result of playing time and injuries as opposed to character issues.

The 2018 class actually tracks closely to Sumlin's 2012 transition class, all the way down to including a Matthews brother. Both were plagued with a good bit of bad luck and inheriting some bad evaluations from the previous staff.

2013 would be comparable to 2019 just by the timeline of when Sumlin/Fisher were hired and it already seems that 2019 will be far superior.

The 2012 class didn't attrit nearly as bad as the 2013 class did, which is why I used it as a comparison.

Out of the 19 members of the 2012 class, 8 were starters, 5 transferred, 3 medically retired, 2 quit the team, 1 died before the season in a car crash (Polo) and 1 never made it on campus.

In the same vein as Trevor Wood, yes.

Ahh ok, well would you say you’re happy with Jimbo’s recruiting so far? At least on paper, results need to show up on the field but that will come in time (I believe)
