So is it official that we're keeping Kennedy another year?

It will take an 0-18 conference season to get rid of him, I'm afraid.

you are so pessimistic

reading between the lines from things I have heard Jason Cook say throughout the year it seems like they would rather first spend money on upgrading Reed Arena than to pay a coach who has been snake bitten with injuries/players transferring/getting booted to go away who only has two years left on his deal.

and as much as you don't want to hear it, so long as there isn't a wave of transfers they should have a pretty solid squad coming back next year.

Its not your fault, but your post made me fall off the melt wagon again.

Edit: Now the game is- how long until an extension is announced and how long is the extension? I say in a month for 4 years.

1. There's no point in upgrading Reed if no one shows up.

2. All signs are that Kourtney Roberson is done once he graduates (this year).

3. The 2013-2014 team was more talented than the 2012-2013 team...and managed to have the same exact record with a far weaker schedule.

The Ags were at full strength when they suffered embarrassing losses to North Texas and Missouri State. The injuries you speak of didn't start to accumulate until we were 2/3 into the season. In fact, the only meaningful injury this team suffered was when Fitzgerald tore his ACL. Fabyon Harris was nowhere near the impact player he was last year. He changed his shot over the summer and was never the same.

I find it hard to absolve Kennedy of any blame when considering the rash of transfers during his tenure. Do you think he was powerless to control the situation? It's hard to stomach the complaining from BK regarding depth when he is part of the problem.

Jamal Branch
Naji Hibbert
Daniel Alexander
Keith Davis
Andrew Young
J’Mychal Reese (I'd smoke weed too if Billy Kennedy were my coach)
Shawn Smith (off the team the past several weeks, not enpected to return)

Who's fault is it that this team didn't have a true point guard in year 3 of BK's tenure? BK's supporters have to do some serious mental calisthenics in order to justify a 4th year. 48-47 should speak for itself.

Nice qualifier you threw in there.

If the past three years are any indication, there will be a couple of departures on this team. Roberson is our best post player (which isn't much to brag about) but there are rumors that he'll move on after the season. He'll be 24 this year and he has enough credits to graduate, so there's no guarantee that he's coming back.

No problem, BK will solve the problem regarding our lack of a post presence in recruiting, right?

Lol nope. BK's incoming class doesn't address our post issues. Dylan Johns may very well be our starting center next year. Tony Trocha is a project who hasn't played organized ball in two years and it's hard to rely on someone who hasn't even been allowed to enroll at A&M.

Transfer Jalen Jones will be an impact starter but our lack of size will be our undoing. Again.

I'm wondering two things about Kennedy's retention:
1) Hyman made contact with a number of coaches and none of them had any interest. Either that or Hyman came away feeling like their price tags were higher than A&M could afford (or would be willing to pay anyway). So in other words, there's nobody on the market that's a good fit
2) Somebody fairly high up in the AD said something inappropriate about Kennedy's Parkinson's, which gave Kennedy legal leverage.

Jesus Christ. I didn't even notice Shawn smith had left the team. What happened? Did he leave or was he kicked off?

Doesn't even matter, it's a stretch to even call it a team anymore.

Smith wanted more minutes and plays. When he didn't get them he started butting heads w Kennedy and, if jorts is to be believed, turned on the entire team.

Anything jorts says is going to be slanted in the coaches' favor because he is buddy buddy with Ciprien.

Giving a decent player shitty minutes and putting the lineup we had on the floor pisses me off too.

Do any of y'all blame any of our players for not wanting to play for a coach that can't coach?

Nope. I can see his our many errors just from watching the games once on TV. They have his incompetence waived in front of them every time they watch game film.

I don't know how we're still getting commits. I mean WTF did he say to Alexander Robinson to get the commit? "Sure we set lazy-arse screens and picks 30' from the basket, generate most of our offense via iso-work (while the rest of the team stands around and watches), take bad shots and hit a low % of them. But all of that is because we don't have a point guard! YOU can fix all that"

Kudos to Cyprien. He's earning his pay, for sure.
