btw, I find it interesting that the 12 points was the most ever overcome in the final minute - and we technically did it in 34 seconds.

Sheeeeet boys, had we started earlier in the minute we coulda overcome like 20

i think i remember reading something a while ago from bill james that you can figure out when a game is over by taking the difference in points, subtracting three, and then taking that number and multiplying by itself and either adding one if you dont have the ball or subtracting one if you do. so for our 12 point deficit with the ball, it would have been 9*8 which is 72. so the game should have been over with 1:12 left and we came back in 44 seconds

I plugged into the calculator: 12 points in 44 seconds

"Yes! The lead is 100$ safe."

I think we broke it

In a matter of a few seconds, the best feel-good story of March crumpled, instantly turning into one of the most brutal NCAA eliminations ever. Our hearts are with the players of the Northern Iowa Panthers, who will be haunted forever by the night they made the impossible possible.

28 wins is now the most in Aggie history.

At this point this has to be considered our best team ever right?

It is down to these 3.
80
26-8
6 Seed (48 teams)
Regular Season & Tourney Champion
Beat 11 Seed Bradley & 3 Seed UNC
Lost to 2 Seed UL (eventual champion)
I do not believe there was a final poll after the regular season

07
27-7
3 Seed
No Conference Title
Beat 13 Seed Penn & 6 Seed UL
Lost to 2 Seed Memphis
Final AP Ranking 9th

16
28-8
3 Seed
Regular Season Champion
Beat 13 Seed Green Bay & 10 Seed UNI

I would say this team needs to make it to the elite 8 before we crown them best Aggie team ever. Both 07 & 80 will have arguments for being better.

to be fair to Mr James, his formula was made when the shot clock was still 35 seconds.

yes we were pressing the entire last minute but I have to think the game might not have gone down the same way had UNI been able to run a bit more clock earlier in the game.

Y'all...I still can't believe we won that shite. I mean, I had already gone through the entire grief process. I was completely over it.

I have a confession to make...

I switched over to Kindergarden Cop during the game because I was so frustrated with it. I checked back in after Arnold was the hero and saw we were doddling around 10 points behind. I watched some of U571 and decided to check the final score.

Overtime!!!!???!!!??!! How The F did this happen???? Well I can't mess with it now so I went back to U571 so I didn't jinx it.

I would currently give the slight edge to 07.

But people put too much weight on B12/SEC. The B12 that year was a 4-bid league so I'm not sure it was really that much tougher than the SEC this year. And Tech pretty much squeeked in the tourney only because they beat us twice

But the 07 team was pretty consistent and seemed better. Think KenPom also thought it was a lot better so somewhere in the stats it must have been.

The current team feels more talented than 07. Maybe I am wrong about that.
