For reference that 12 commit class would have finished

18th in 2017 (essentially mirroring the classes stanford and clemson took and ahead of oregon, washington, nebraska, texas, maryland, south carolina, mississippi state...

It would have finished just behind our 2016 class of 21 signees.

hes obviously super impressionable and even though he "committed" hes not really committed and has pretty much said as much. i would take his "commitment" as publicly announcing that we are his leader at this point but i wouldnt go much further than that. this is going to have a lot of twist and turns and it wouldnt surprise me to see him back off of his commitment but it seems like we are at least one of the two or three choices that he will be choosing from at the end of the day which is all you can really ask for with players of his caliber

hell, hes already taking visits to other schools

The main reason I want Demas is because of Evans. He’s awesome but there’s a ton of really good receivers in 2020

In Demas interview with Hamm, you had to ask if he knew what the word "commitment" meant. He said we're still going to have to recruit him hard and all that jazz.

I agree - basically he was excited and announced us as his leader.

Everyone (other boards/mods etc) keeps saying he is a once every 5 years or so talent at WR, but I didn't LOVE his tape. He has the measurables though.

Yeah I think that’s a stretch. He’s very good, but isn’t that much better than Omeire to me. I hope we land him for sure but Evans is a “once in every 5 years running back” type talent to me

FWIW I can get sucked into who they are right now sometimes and not look at where they project. I thought Darmarkus Lodge was a once every 5 years or so type talent, but really it was just that he was polished to closer to his peak than most HS WR.

Part of my blindspot may be due to watching sumlin for 6 years and our best players being exactly the same from their first year to their fourth.

It ends up being a real problem here in Texas. The high school programs are so good that kids get developed far beyond what they would in high schools across the country and so guys like Mack are pretty close to their ceiling the day you sign them.

Hell that was Garrett Gilbert in a nutshell.

Without a doubt it happens in Texas the most at a state level, and then you have to watch powerhouse programs as well (other than the IMG style) because they've probably been groomed for years.
