I never thought this kid was going to sign with us. He always seemed like a punk.
It says a lot about his character for him to wait until NSD to decommit.

seems like other teams have more signed at this point looking at 247. What is going on with us?
I think we wind up with 10, I’m not really sure if that’s to be considered bad since we had a coaching change and don’t currently even have a DC
I think we sign a top 10 class when it’s all said and done

I couldn’t tell you where we end up. I’m more of a pessimist/realist. If you’re name isn’t on the dotted line then I’m not fully convinced. Unless you are a Matthews. That pipeline has been awesome.
I love A&M and for what it stands for ... I do wonder if some of our traditions are as off-putting as some people make them out to be? I just don’t know? I never had any issues with it before I went there....and I was a frat kid.

I think if we sign a top 15 class after 3 bad seasons in a row and firing our coach, that’s not bad
If Jimbo makes this a top 10 class, how can anyone not look at it as a huge success?

I fully agree. Need that DC on staff ASAP. Lol
I do still wonder about our perception to 16-18 year old kids. Is there a stigma as some of these posters (on several sites) suggest? Truly have no clue.
This much I know. Living now in Houston - and seeing the alumni base here vs DFW. We need to make inroads into that market. The HS football being played up there is head and shoulders better compared to Houston.

We say that, but yet it is extremely difficult for students to get into A&M. And our population continues to grow.
Where is the disconnect?

been that way for years, not sure what that has to do with the alumni base though

I'm not that far out of school, but I believe there are 2 "stigmas" or pre-conceived notions about A&M for kids coming out of school. Now it's important to remember I was Upper Middle class in Ft. Worth so the perspective of the people I grew up with doesn't necessarily match the kids we are recruiting to play football all the time.
1) If you are a Urban/Suburban white kid in a Private/Affluent Public ISD and you want to study Engineering, Business, Pre-Med, it's really, really competitive.
Like really competitive, and the kids who are a shoe-in to make it into A&M are competitive candidates at schools like UVA, Duke, some Ivies, etc.
2) CStat is a nothing town. (For some reason, the stigma is beyond that of Fayetteville, Norman, Tuscaloosa, or Auburn. People think it's really small if they aren't familiar.) And it's filled with a VERY conservative student body that is mostly smart kids, BUT not the smartest kids.
IMO the first one holds largely true. The second is obviously BS if you spend any time around the university.

In 30 years we could have an all Matthews OL.

The types of demographics of kids good at football might not completely overlap with the suburb kids who have trouble getting into competitive majors.

Putting the dance team on football sidelines would be worth their weight in gold.

Here is why I'm not worried about recruiting going forward

Bossier City (La.) Parkway five-star wide receiver Terrace Marshall is set to announce on the final day of the early signing period, Fri. at 2:30 p.m. The three finalists are officially A&M, LSU and Florida State but, realistically, it is an A&M-LSU battle for the nation’s top receiver. Though the Aggies made a big final push, in-state LSU long held the lead. With about 24 hours to go, I am making my call that he will sign with LSU. From all I’m hearing, it was a little too late for A&M with the coaching change as Marshall had somewhat written the Aggies offer prior to that

So what targets do we have a realistic shot with, besides the guys who are committed to us but haven't signed?

Another frick you goes out to my downvoters.
ETA: downvoters are Randolph Duke sympathizers/fluffers

When I see that gif all I see is him kissing the number 1 recruit in Texas, then the #2, then the #3, then the #4, then the #5, you get the idea.
