The coach is about to be announced and the contract signed. We had to approve the terms of the agreement.
does that not happen at an announced meeting with the BOR like with the head coach? or is that meeting just a formality that really serves no purpose.

I thought of another reason it's not Aranda. Looch said our new DC has already notified his current coach.
If Aranda had told Orgeron he was leaving for A&M, there is no way Coach O could keep that information to himself and not publicly accuse Aranda of being a traitor. He sure would not be proclaiming in every interview that Aranda is the best coordinator in college football.
Hoping for Brown and one or two assistants at this point.

See, that's where you're wrong. All I have to say is that some circumstances changed and the coaching staff were forced...nay...they decided to pursue other people.
I can do the Liucci name game all day folks.
Our next hire will excite many people. The type of defense he will bring will definitely be one that Jimbo likes to have that compliments his style of offense very well. It will be physical, fast, and big. The new DC will have SEC experience and is expected to bring some coaches that he currently works with that will help develop some of our weakest positions on defense. Our defense will be built around stopping the run, but also attacking the open field. He will be named after his bowl is wrapped up and will hit the recruiting trail as soon as he steps off the airplane.
It's a done deal. I can't say who it is, but I know.

All we need is a premium board now

I'm also absolutely convinced texags and 247 and all of them monitor this place for stuff like this
Roger was on here back in 2015 and 2016 talking about meachum and chavis before any of them and they all mysteriously popped up on those places after he was posting about them

It’s not a formality but it’s generally already decided going into meeting but still necessary. The regents can’t meet secretly - that’s a “quorum” and would violate the open meetings act. As such, they can individually talk with the AD and the coach and discuss with another regent, but for them to make a decision as a body a meeting must be held.

You guys will just gave to hunker down because O isn’t going to make two more seasons I don’t think.

It’s probsbly going to break lose by around Wednesday if not sooner. My guess is the coach will be here by the end of the week/weekend. If it’s Brown, what staff members he brings will be the factor that takes a good hire and makes it a great hire. I am hoping we find that out around the same time.

BOR approval was necessary for hiring Fisher. But, would the BOR have to approve hiring a coordinator? When they approved the hire of Fisher, the BOR could have also approved Fisher having authority to hire his staff.
It would almost be guaranteed that Fisher was promised he had independent authority to hire his staff.

They don’t make a show of it, but yes it’s probsbly required. The threshold is the amount of money the contract is worth. It will be some agenda item on a regular meeting, but the board will have to approve regardless (unless they have already approved a total staff contract up to a certain amount)

Sure sounds like y'all are confident it's Aranda

Aranda ain’t happening

Who knows at this point. I feel like it's Brown or Aranda.

I'm not confident because while LSU wanted to keep Chavis, they didn't try to move heaven and earth to keep him. My understanding is he is who LSU is grooming to take over when O fails like many expect. I imagine if he has any desire to stay LSU makes it happen.
If he comes here, Ira because he just didn't want to be at LSU. Which I guess is possible because he has at least entertained Jimbo's offer.

The way LSU operates, would you want to stay there and deal with the administration?
If I were Aranda, I'd stay at LSU only if the boosters/admin can guarantee they will stay out of my way and they are willing to spend like the rest of the conference.

I’m not. But I sure think it’s a possibility.
Everything I said about LSU AD before is spot on. I do work for several boosters and have helped one of their regents expand a business into Texas not long ago. I hear things in casual conversation and try to keep in touch for business purposes but usually end up talking about football or duck hunting. There is a movement building to fire O and when it does the real big dogs are going to want Alleva gone too. Everything Roger said about how they view Aranda is accurate, but the question is whether he would even want that job. He sure as hell won’t with the current AD.

I’m not confident of anything
