So Spav obviously has got to go.

If West Virginia decides (stupidly IMO) to fire Holgorsen, how quickly does Sumlin fuel up the SwaggerJet and get a cashier's check for $1.8 million ready?

I would really rather this not happen as I think Holgorsen is an offensive genius.

I don't think sumlin can get authorization from pay both coordinators over 1M in my opinion. But it would be awesome

Someone on Texags suggested Mark Mangino. I like that idea.

Kevin Wilson is a name being thrown around a lot. Idk how realistic that is.

I'm pretty sure Sumlin would already been in the WVU AD office when they fire him. If he gets fired at 3 PM, he'll be our OC by 3:08.

Seriously, he and Sumlin are thick as thieves.

I think Wilson can get Indiana to a bowl game this year. That might just save his job. I think they finish out with Maryland and Purdue, both very winnable games for them.

I'd be pumped for Holgorsen, and the connection with Sumlin makes this more doable than the two guys I'd rather have:

UH's Tom Herman
SMU's Chad Morris

All 3 seem like wishful thinking, but then I never even considered us getting John Chavis. What's the point in thinking about it? No way that's happening.

All 3 being head coaches makes this a more difficult sell. But I also think all 3 might really like the possibility of being a NC contender.

Neither of those guys are leaving a HC gig to be an OC.

With Holgorsen there's the possibility he does get fired by WV and he may decide that life was much better when all he had to worry about was putting an offense on the field.

After stealing Chavis I think anything is possible . Sorry, kinda. OK, not really.

I mostly agree, but I'm not sure that's a downgrade for either. They might see it as a stepping stone to taking over at A&M after Sumlin. Particularly Morris, who is an A&M grad. Of the three I'd still consider Holgorsen the most likely because of his experience with Sumlin, whether he gets fired or not.

The one I would NOT be excited about is Mangino, despite his previous success. Fat Bert would become Slim Bert, and that just won't do.

It doesn't matter who we have as offensive coordinator if we're a M.A.S.H. unit at running back and a peewee unit at OL.

Jesus Christ, This!

The last thing we need with all the rumors swirling around is Dana? It's widely known that Holgerson also has a drinking problem and a gambling addiction to top it off. What are we trying to host at A&M? An AA regional meeting? frick that! Sumlin needs an outsider who hasn't worked with him and his crappy 'flash card' offense that has 6 different routes.

I hope it's a change from the spread pass into a spread option type of offense.

The one name I haven't seen yet is DC and he's the guy I think gets the next crack. We hire a new QB coach and there's some continuity. Not an entirely new system to learn. JM2C

Please God, no spread option attack. I don't know what the next step will be but I do not want to see the spread bone back as our system.

It's the only thing that works against Bama. Every time Bama has lost in recent years was due to playing against true mobile QBs who excersized the option. If we want to win the sec, we need to beat Bama.

Manziel was not an option quarterback. We ran the option maybe 2-3 times per game. He was a scrambler.

If Dana and Sumlin got back together it' be like that movie with Denzel where he parties all night and flies jetliners by day.

That's interesting. I would think they would allow him to bring in Dana given their relationship and results on the field together. The real question would be whether they would allow him to guarantee Dana money on his contract should Sumlin move on or get fired.
