Did Jimbo address the 2 pt conversion in today's press conference?

I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out what was supposed to happen

-No Jace, no Kendrick
-OL+TE thinking it's a run play
-QB thinking it's a pass play
-WRs doing various things of no consequence

Seems like the coaches and players got a little lost in the moment, which is pretty understandable considering the previous 4-5 minutes of play, but it's a shame we didn't have a better effort to finish off the comeback.

I was thinking Mond was supposed to run it but had the option to throw if he was covered

That's called running routes. They were trying to set s pick, actually.

Sounds like a run pass option.

RPO

We had two OL sprinting 5 yards downfield and no RB. I don't think that's how RPOs work.

Maybe, but that typically involves a receiver remaining behind the line of scrimmage so you don't get called for lineman downfield.

My best guess is a poorly conceived/poorly executed/well defended pick play intended for Jhamon that the OL messed up on play call and the WRs setting picks got beat.

Would have been great to have a timeout or an audible, because Clemson had it snuffed out from the beginning.

I forgot about the flag. Maybe Mond panicked at the last minute and threw it? Or maybe he waited too long to throw the ball and the linemen said "frick it"? Maybe the linemen just fricked up?

I don't remember now if it was post game or today, but Jimbo said he got it wrong.

He owned it, so no problem as far as I am concerned.

I suspect the play had Mond getting rid of the ball soon, but he saw that it just wasn't open at all. So he started drifting hoping something would present itself.

I really anticipated Mond to drop straight back and look to either Sternberger on a crossing route or a jump ball to Rogers. And if those were not open or forced from the pocket, to try to run it in.

It felt like the play we tried to run had one designated target, but when that didn't open up, Mond couldn't find a good Plan B.

Either would have made a lot of sense. Blows my mind neither one was in. Maybe that is what Jimbo's response mentioned earlier was about.

From a post on TA this morning on Jimbo's radio interview with 97.5 in Houston.
quote:

1. He was asked about the two point play. Apparently was an RPO with run as the first option. Jimbo said we whiffed on the DE, and if we made that block Mond would have walked in.

Also the outside receiver was supposed to stay wide, but didn't. The host thought it was your typical roll out rub route like most comments I've seen dissing the call. There was a lot more to the call than most realized. Just didn't execute.

I couldn't see the WRs from the replay, but you can see we had a ton of blockers and we missed the key one.

If we make that block we probably win the game. Them's the breaks, when you're playing 4 All american DLmen.

Our seats are in the south end zone and this play was run to our corner. It was very well covered and defended.

It made sense an RPO roll to the right. The negative of the play was that that makes for a lot of bodies - WR's, TE's, defenders all isolated on one side of the field.

We should have run the Philly Special. You could have someone like Paul who's played QB be the wide out in motion. Mond is plenty good enough of an athlete to run a route and catch the ball even if he has to make a play on it.

What about the the ol "TE falls down, then leaks out to opposite side of field for wide open TD" play? What's the point of having a TE on the roster if you aren't going to run that
