BBQ- Martin's, Fargo's

Country fare- Longhorn Tavern in Bryan, Sodolak's in Snook

Mexican food- You must go where the Mexicans are: in Bryan. For the money of a peasant, you can eat like a king at the following places: La Botana (HW 6 & Boonville), Casa Rodriguez (downtown Bryan), and El Sol De Mexico (Texas Ave. & MLK ). Trust me, I'm Mexican.

You left off Cocoloco. Their salsa has a nice kick and their tacos al carbon is tasty.

Maybe it's a good place to take a date as well?

Very dark/low lighting at night with really good food. Definitely worthy of a date.

Thanks Spur. Believe it or not I haven't been there either. It is on the list of places we take official department visitors but I have always been in on the Republic or Madden's. Maybe it's a good place to take a date as well?

When I proposed to Mrs. Tbird, Cafe Eccel is where we went to celebrate her saying yes

Great date spot.

That's awesome man.

Well maybe I can find a Primette around here and do the same.

Any bad weather up your way? I know some folks that got a little damage.

Sorry to hear. Hoping the best for them and their recovery. Our entire farm shop, houses, equipment, and grain bins were all destroyed in 1997. Luckily no one was hurt but it was a mess. I cannot imagine going through that with my own house or family.

IMO the best restaurant in B/CS right now is Veritas Wine and Bistro. The chef is a nice dude too.

I've been there once for a catered affair. I had some great duck. I want to go there on my own terms with the full menu someday though. Have you had his food truck?

+1 on Rudy's for BBQ

Sure, it's a "chain" (instead of some charming, smoky hole-in-the-wall) and won't make the Texas Monthly list -- but is the best (and most consistent) brisket you can get.

Crazy thing, my family was living in Oklahoma in '97 too. Just happened to be traveling out of state the day before that storm came through. Really scary.

That may have been the same one. It came through Arkansas in March if I recall.

Yeah. We found pieces of farm equipment miles away. We still have metal in some of our trees from it. Incredible force.

Damn iPad is messing with my spelling again.

It could also be my aggy education, you know how that goes...

Yeah, several of the trees died because of it. We thought it was cool to leave it at the time though, and wondered if we would just damage them further by attempting to take it out.

The original Rudy's down here near me in Leon Springs is amazing. I can remember 10 years ago when it was the only location. The original Romano's Macaroni Grill was about 50 yards away from it until a flood wiped it out. Lots of good food coming out of that area before it got real developed.
