Yeah, that’s why Schloss pulled him so early

Update from Schloss: Jace with a tweaked hamstring don’t know the extent but 48ish hours to recover and hopefully bounce back and battle through it

This team has no quit. What a gem from both Prager and Stewart tonight. I think Jace will be back …

What does tweaked really mean? Never dealt with a hamstring problem. Assume tweaked is not an “injury”. A strain of some type?

We need him on the field for a host of reasons. He’s the leader on this team.

I would guess a minor strain, but hamstrings and soft tissue in the legs in general mean long recoveries usually. Not because its major damage, but because they reinjury very easily.

Guess they will just wrap it tight and he will play then? We really need Tenner to lose a game. Need Tenner and FSU to play an extra game and keep him off the field a bit longer.

I wonder if he sits on Wednesday and if we win, then he'll have 4 days off his feet before the finals start.

Results on the other side of the bracket don't affect our schedule. The finals is happening Sat/Sun/Mon regardless.

The only way to earn more rest for Jace is to win Wednesday night.

But that means they burn more arms Thursday which will impact Sat-Mon.

Lets not put the cart before the horse. We're in deep shite Thursday if we don't win Wednesday. Most likely Cortez & Aschenbeck will be used tomorrow. We should have a large advantage. If it comes to a Thursday game, we're going to need to get it done with Rudis, Lamkin (if he doesn't go Wed), Tanner, Stewart, Wilson. Sure, we might be in a better spot than our opponent, but anything can happen when you dig deep into the roster.

Who starts Wed? Lamkin again?

We are sitting pretty, I wouldn't mind rolling the dice with another pitcher (Rudis?) and give Lamkin one extra day rest.

If you lose, you have Lamkin on 4 days rest for the elimination game.
If you win, you can throw Lamkin game 1 of the final on a full weeks rest and then Prager is available game 2 on 5 days rest.

The benefit to starting Lamkin tomorrow is he might be available for a short stint in a potential Game 3 of the Final, but that is just 3 days rest and then 4 days rest between successive appearances.

Lamkin only threw 42 pitches. No reason to think he can't give you 40-60 tomorrow with ease on 4 days rest.

Schloss made it very clear, it'll depend on the matchup. He liked Cortez vs UF which is why Lampin started game 1.

Updated. We can't catch the '89 team, who didn't even make the CWS, but we keep moving up. If we tie 1999, we make the CWS Finals. If we top 1993, we're the champs.

40+ Win Seasons

1989: 58-7 (Regional Final)
1993: 53-11 (CWS 5th/6th)
1999: 52-18 (CWS 7th/8th)
2024: 51-13 (Top 4 so far...TBD)
2015: 50-14 (Supers)
2016: 49-16 (Supers)
2007: 48-19 (Supers)
2011: 47-22 (CWS 7th/8th)
2008: 46-19 (Supers)
1998: 46-20 (Regional Final)
2003: 45-19 (Regional)
1986: 45-23 (Regional)
2022: 44-20 (CWS 3rd/4th)
1995: 44-22-1 (Regional Final)
1987: 44-22-1 (Regional Final)
1990: 44-23 (Regional)
1990: 43-17 (no postseason)
2012: 43-18 (Regional)
2010: 43-21-1 (Regional)
2004: 42-22 (Supers)
1992: 41-20 (Regional Final)
1984: 41-21 (Regional)
2017: 41-23 (CWS 7th/8th)
1976: 40-13 (Regional Final)
2018: 40-22 (Regional)

Before 1999, Regional Final = Supers (final 32 teams)

UK/UF postoned until tomorrow. They play at 10 am then the winning plays us at 6pm. That's rough on pitching.

Whoever we play now has to win 3 games in 2 days to advance.

Reality is we're now massive favorites to be playing for a national title this weekend.

You left out the 1988 team that went 52-15. Like 1989 that team could hit and also needed a couple of more arms. The 1990 team that went 43-17 had great pitching but couldn't hit. That team didn't make the SWC tournament, having finished 5th, and a good team was left at home.

Did the 1989 team play a lot of extra nonconference games?

How is it that the 2024 team, with 7 postseason games already played, has played 1 fewer game than the 1989 team?

Not only those double headers, there was also a tournament at Spring Break. Teams like Maine, Nebraska, etc would come down and play here during that week.
