Yes.. I kept waiting for the shoe to drop on them and it never did. They have played well consistantly.

If we win out, I think we get a national seed. Think we can do that?

It's baseball, so anything is possible. But... guess who has the best home record in the SEC?

Not Arkansas after we beat that arse.

i have no idea, but surely its not us? we just arent very good this year. hopefully we can get hot and draw some luck like last year. texas, baylor, tech, all seem to get lucky in postseason hoops and hardball.
davidson was the first time we've drawn a lower seed in baseball regionals ever, since they re-formatted the game. meanwhile, baylor baskeball has made 3 elite eights while getting to play double digit seeds in the process. our post season luck has been shite

I hope so because we need this series in order to host. But I'm skeptical, it seems like RC has always struggled with Arkansas. Maybe it's the Dave Van Horn connection, but we have struggled more with Arkansas than anyone else in the West since we joined the league.

Good points. We don't play well on the road. They play awesome at home. We've historically struggled vs them. Not a lot going in our favor this weekend, but there is a reason we play the games.

Really tough to watch this team this weekend

Looks like a Childress team alright

So I am officially worried about missing the tourney now. We need to get to 14 wins to feel safe IMO.

I'm with you. We need to win this series. With an RPI currently at 15, the idea of missing should be absurd. But a lot is going to depend on how much respect the committee shows the SEC.
The SEC has the largest gap I can remember vs #2 conference RPI. Went thru Boyd's and 2004 is the only year close. And 9 of the 16 host sites in Softball were SEC for a comparison. But we're certainly doing ourselves no favors.

This is from anc (State fan) on the main board. Based on this we should be good at 13-17, but I sure as frick don't want to find out. Let's win this series and win another 1 or 2 in Hoover and lock up a strong 2 seed.

Currently at 12-15, right?
Are we assuming we lose the series?

I’m not assuming anything. 15-15 and we still might get outside hosting talk with a strong showing in Hoover. I feel fine at 14-16. It’s not ideal, but enough based on history. 13-17 should get us in too, but I don’t feel safe. 12-18 and I don’t think we deserve in regardless of RPI.

Need to win this weekend - period. No more excuses for Childress and his undisciplined squad

its amazing the similarities between our basketball and baseball teams this season. High preseason expectations, roll into conference play ranked top 10. Struggled mightily in what has been the deepest the conference has been in a while, yet are still being talked about as a postseason team cause of some absurdly high computer #s.

This team reminds me of 2017.

Nice win last night. That puts our OOC record at 23-2 with losses to UTA (worst of the year) & La Tech.

yep, we really don't have bad losses and overall our resume is solid. Our biggest weakness is we have no good series wins and 5 series losses - 3 def national seeds (UF, @Arky, @UGA) and probably 2 hosts (Miss, @Auburn).
But def agree as to last year comp. I think as a 2/3 seed, we're set up well for a regional because our strength pitching wise is having a better 3 than anyone (and why we win most Sundays). We don't have a dominant ace to take down a top team (were 2-7 "Fridays" in SEC play). And we struggle against those types of pitches. But if we can avoid a dude in Game 1...

Avoid an ace and have another low seed upset someone and boom we’re hosting a super with a good shot at Omaha. (Kidding we won’t get that luck again for another 50 years).
