This is why we can't have nice things.

It is kind of the premise of the thread he started, but they are running with it as more than a hypothetical. I don't think he means bad but when everyone takes his word as gospel it's going to work people into a frenzy

They must like getting kicked in the nuts b/c I seem to remember that board being pretty positive that Sumlin was for sure gone.

I come to this board for info and not so much for poster's opines on Sumlin.
SEC commissioner and Sumlin laid it out there for everyone yesterday. Most consecutive bowl appearances, most consecutive bowl wins, best 4 year record in 2 decades, Heisman winner, record revenue, and highest ever APR.
People expected A&M to be a "bottom feeder" in this conference when we joined , but now people are saying we are underperforming because we aren't winning National Championships...

Then quit sharing your opinion of Sumlin

No, it's not. He was making the case that now that Hamm has played-up the possibility of getting Stidham that everyone was going to freak out on Sumlin if he doesn't land him.
The poster himself confirmed that's the point he's trying to make. I think everyone is on the same page, not sure why you feel compelled to argue about it.

I can think of at least one person whose name rhymes w/Dodger Marvin who will go probably nuclear on Sumlin over it
He's the standard of our fanbase now?
I am speaking of the average fan. Not the hellbent internet geeks among us (present company included). The average fan WILL NOT CARE IF WE DON'T GET STIDHAM. What Hamm has to say to geeks on 24/7 doesn't really matter. It won't affect our recruiting momentum and it won't affect 97% of our fanbase's opinion of Sumlin.

It's the hardcore fans that are the pulse of a fanbase, not the dude who has a couple shirts, maybe a degree, and hasn't been to a game in 5 or 6 years. Your estimation of an average fan didn't give much of a shite about Kyler transferring or Brandon Jones going to Texas either.
Also recruits read TA and 247, so even if you saying that our internet posters are a tiny minority of our fanbase is true, it still has an impact

The average fan did care about the QB transfers. That was national sports news.

They like to think so. It's a form of self-fellatio.

It does to an extent, but A&M winning or not winning the Stidham lottery and a predicted wave of disappointment based on Hamm's positive inductions is not going to be impactful to recruits. We will still have Kellen Mond, a 4* out of IMG, who they will rightfully see as more than good enough to feel confident about A&M.
There isn't even a Stidham thread currently on the first page of the Zoo. If you want a pulse of the fanbase's concern over winning the Stidham lottery, there you go. People just don't care as much about it as you think they do.

If you think the zoo represents what our fanbase is thinking you or we are truly fricking lost.

Not a single thread on premium page 1 either
You may not like it, but TexAgs is a good barometer for what A&M fans are caring about.

Fair enough. If he doesn't choose us and Liucci/Hamm report we passed I will be interested to see the reaction. Posters on premium/247 and here loved the revisionist tale that we should have pursued Stidham instead of Kyler and the staff was forced into taking Kyler, so the outrage should be palpable if we seemingly pass on him for a second time
