Word circulating is the university is already looking to expand the ball park and are proposing to put permanent seating on the 3rd base berm..

I really hope this is true. It would be another 500-700 seats (guess) which would bring out actual seating from 5,400 to 6,000.

I have not seen any schematics for what they want and I first saw the softball/track ones like 2 years ago. My guess is they gauge basic interest and put together a proposal this summer based on budget.

Attendance since BBP opened

2012 4,369
2013 4,523
2014 4,406

The media guide states over these first 3 years we only had 14 games over the seating capacity of 5400 and 4 over the official 6100 capacity (which includes berms)

2015 4,743

Last year we had 14 over 5400 and 5 over 6100 as our attendance the 2nd half of the season exploded

2016 5,194 (thru 4/12)

Provided we close out strong I expect that number to only rise.

500-700 more would probably be about right as of now but may actually be short depending on how this season finishes. I'd probably commission multiple plans from 500 or so to maybe 2k and we can consider what makes sense.

Ive said it a few times on here. I wanted the LF berm turned into seats (the rumor) and some outfield seating between the rec & fence. Like a party deck where alcohol is served. Not a huge addition, but maybe room for another 100-200 people between the fair pole & the video board.

A few pics some other parks.

Edit: AND then if we get our average over 6K, I would look in to turning the other berm into seating. I don't think we're there yet. That would be a good 1,000-1,500 seats I would guess.

soft hitting and bunting leads to a run for them. Frustrating for a team who has played fantastically consistent defense when compared to the last several years.

yeah I think we've had this discussion some last year. I really like what MSU is doing with Dudy Noble. It's essentially suites but we could probably do a GA/suites combo

Walters having control issues and getting behind everyone. Even walked Barash who was trying to bunt. We loaded bases with nobody out and can't push anyone across

My issue with that, is that it is going to price out a lot of people. We have premium seating and suites behind home. I want something students can afford and an area for people tog et a little rowdy and talk shite to the left fielder.

yeah it only makes sense if there is demand. That's what I mean by gauging interest really. Generally how they work facility projects like this is talk to consistent donors of a sport and ask what they might be interested in first. If some would prefer an outfield/tailgating suite to the current, it's something to consider.

You could IMO have that front area be the party deck you want for students and younger folks and the suites above with individual grilling stations. I could see at least some demand for both
