Well once they found out they weren't getting them, they went after blacklock, not the other way around.

Strong went to Nac this morning and is in Tyler now. Pretty sure the Tyler visit is a next year WR.

Whelp,
Not looking good on the McCullough front even though we kinda knew already. Just talked with someone who I know, and it's legit, I mean family close. Says that the childhood love + combined with everything that happened (although a lot of it negative recruiting) and it looks like there's little chance at this point. Pretty much done.
Back in November or whenever when I posted on the recruiting board that I knew we had McCullough, we did. But so much has changed. I've talked with this person throughout and there was always a small percent chance, but the conversation today was pretty bleak.

What negative recruiting has been slung our way? That Sumlin won't be here? Or that Sumlin is a bad guy/can't be trusted?

I wasn't told a ton, this person isn't my bff or anything. Basically used the QB "trust" thing. Charlie is playing the moral value card etc. He said that their staff is preaching how close they were last year: should've beat wv, should've beat osu, should've beat tech.
Yeah it's bullcrap, but they are selling it.
The biggest point being thrown at them is that Sumlin lies to his players, he's not a player's coach, and that the everyone high up wants him fired.

Nope, I believe he has been in McCollough's ear after we passed on him for Tyler Dodson.

We opened ourselves up to a good bit of that. Though it's galling to hear Strong go on about morals. When he first went to UTx, I thought it wasn't going to be a good fit culturally. But he's as falsely pious and sanctimonious as your average horn fan who dismisses all our success in the 80s because of cheating, and insists all of their success was clean and legitimate.
I do think Sumlin can still turn this around, if that's what he wants. If we rebound next year on the field, I think we'll do well in recruiting. Whereas for the horns, their best bet is actually still be terrible and replace Strong w/ Herman. But it's just possible Strong ekes out a winning record and saves his job, earning another year or two of mediocrity.

Exactly. According to 3/4 of this board a month ago, Sumlin was 100% on his way out the door and all of the horrible Sandusky level things he's been doing that have been swept under the rug were about to be revealed.
