I swore to myself I wouldn't get sucked back into this "woe is us" recruiting shite. Last year was miserable, not because of the class(which was respectable), but because of all the wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth. Let's see how it all ends up on NSD before we continue on with the usual "we suck", "the coaches suck", "we'll never be relevant" crap. Grow some balls, sack up,and try to maintain some sort of composure.

Mazzone was a great hire.

Right now he has a chance to prove himself to us if he can close strongly. I think we all appreciate a coach with real OC experience after the Spav experiment.

Amen. I am still confused at what we are doing at OL. Is Dave Christensen out on the recruiting trail?

I can't speak for everyone, but at this point it isn't about a loss of composure. It's just a calm acknowledgement of an obvious reality.

Our program is fricked in the short term, and that's ok. It happens. It sucks that it's happening to us again, but it's part of being a fan. We'll hire a new coach and try again.

The irrational optimism and and self-delusion some in our fanbase have is just sad though. It's like watching a homeless man beg for scraps out back of a restaurant. It's just undignified.

Ah yes, calm acknowledgment of an obvious reality. No one is losing composure, it's just accepting a reality that only I see. It's completely normal to let your pussy lips flap all over everywhere.

Edit: I upvoted your post because I love pussy

Roger, our recruiting class will be a good one, maybe not a great one but a good one none the less.

We have the best DC in NCAA and Mazxone is a very respected highly qualified OC

Oh no!

I didn't say nobody was losing composure, I was only speaking for myself. I would say that arguing we are NEVER going to have a good program is over the top, yes. I'm not doing that however. I'm saying the Sumlin era is a terminal cancer patient.

Defense mechanism used to avoid discussing the real issues. Many are still in the denial stage of grief. No offense taken.

I had my melt and anger after the OM and Auburn losses. My confidence level in Sumlin is pretty low but I'm willing to let next year play out at this point since we have no choice. This class, if it finishes the way it does, won't sink us or frick us over if we can rebound either with this staff or a new one: it is not the end of the world.

Our recruiting class will finish around 20-23 depending on how a few remaining unknowns shake out. That's not good, not in the SEC.

Mazzone is so good he's been fired or his contract allowed to expire nearly everywhere he has ever been. Oh, and he has serious health problems that could incapacitate him at any moment.

And even if he were this all works OC the optimists have convinced themselves he is, his options at QB are seriously limited and our offensive line is a dumpster fire.

And there lies the rub, to compete where we are we need great classes, period

If we win 9 or 10 next year and Sumlins still here....you're gonna buy a puppy just to kick it

Arkansas went 5-3 in the SEC with a bunch of classes ranked around that. Freeze's first class was definitely nothing special. I agree you can't have 4 classes like that expect to compete but one class like that won't end you

A lot of people on this board like to let actual facts play out before reaching a conclusion as to their opinion on something.

You don't. It's that simple.

The majority of this board has told you a dozen times to quit your bitching and let it play out. Then we can burn who needs burning.

You won't. It's that simple.

You base your opinions on half-truths and incorrect facts. Every time I turn around you are saying something is going terribly wrong and it's about to get worse.

It hasn't. We are fine, with or without Sumlin. It's that simple.

Take a Xanax and thank god you aren't in charge of anything because that would be the ultimate cluster frick.

That's not a defense mechanism. It's just the truth. It's that simple.

Winning 10 games next year would require beating, at a minimum, three preseason top-15 teams. And that's assuming Auburn doesn't bounce back.

Yeah but how much of that can be blamed on the coach, and how much can be blamed on the bagmen? Does anyone here really think Freeze is the reason for their amazing recruiting? I personally am not a bagman so I feel I can't criticize the work they do, kinda like people who don't vote.

No doubt they're paying people big time but I do think Freeze is a good recruiter
