I am willing to bet the Jake will throw for more passing TDs than what Allen/Murray threw in the last 3 SEC games.

We are going to have several options at RB next year, unlike this year. My hope is we can generate more in the running game, thus taking some pressure off whoever we play at QB.

We had no outside running game this season outside of Murray occasionally getting around the edge.

I'd be happy with a game manager at QB who just hits open receivers, doesn't throw INTs, and can check into a better play at the LOS. Get that part down, please. Anything more than that is a bonus.

Sumlin has never won more than 8 games without a superstar record setting QB. Next year will be his toughest schedule ever as a HC and he'll be starting a two star JUCO who transfered there because Mike Gundy told him he wouldnt ever play at OSU. The guy who made Brandon fricking Weeden an AA didnt think Hubenak was any good.

We're fricked

and Kliff Kingsbury was doddling on giving Baker Mayfield a scholly causing him to transfer.

Johnny Manziel wasn't recruited by any Texas schools other than A&M and Rice and Tom Rossley had to beg Sherman to take him.

Drew Brees couldn't even get offers from TCU or Baylor let alone any major schools in the region. He didn't get offers until December of his senior year and the two he got were Kentucky and Purdue.

Jordy Nelson got so few offers he ended up being a walk on at Kansas State.

Coaches thought so little of Michael Strahan he had to go play at Texas Southern.

JJ Watt started his playing days at Central Michigan where they thought his best position was at TE. He eventually became a walk on at Wisconsin before he was put at DT.

Kurt Warner ended up getting stuck at Northern Iowa and was stocking shelves at a grocery store before he became NFL MVP.

But hey, Hubes has no shot at being worth a damn b/c Gundy had him behind several other QBs.

Making note of the extraordinary cases of lowly rated players succeeding while ignoring the tens of thousands who were predictably average or irrelevant does nothing to dispute my post.

Yes, Jake Hubenak might be the next Drew Brees. He probably isn't though. If you are betting on success based on the premise that Hubenak will be that kind of player well, more power to you. You'll be disappointed 99 times out of a hundred.

Meanwhile in the real world, odds are we will struggle for at least two years at QB until Martell is a second year player.

I'm saying its stupid to just automatically assume he will suck.

He has looked pretty solid in his limited time on the field.

Case Keenum was a nobody with a pop-gun arm but he ran that Houston offense like a boss b/c he understood matchups really well and was good at getting the pass off fast.

At the very least Hubes seems to know how to get it out quick which is a huge improvement from what we would have with Murray. If he can read a D anywhere near as well as Allen we should be fine.

Statistically, it's pretty reasonable to assume he will be below average. Not a lock, but certainly reasonable.

And he has completed about 40% of his passes this year and his only scoring drive was when he came in against Auburn on their five yard line. Solid isn't what I'd call it.

I don't think we can be 4-8 bad unless injuries hit in large numbers. I see us being 7-5 probably

I see 4-8 with losses to UCLA and all but 1 SEC opponent

You typically have reasonable and well backed predictions so thanks for the input

If you are going to judge his time by simply looking at stats your scouting skills suck arse.

He threw 47 touchdowns last year at blinn. That's not all him but it's nothing to scoff at.

all you want but its true.

if you actually watch the games he got decent time in he did fairly well for a guy who was never getting first team (and often second team) reps throughout the year.

It's hard to predict how he will do without knowing the offense. But it's not like we got outstanding QB play this year

Next year really does set up for a disaster type of year. The schedule is tougher and if there is any sign of trouble or struggle I can see the team giving up on sumlin realizing he's likely a lame-duck coach.

I also wouldn't say hubenak has been solid in his limited time on the field this season, however it is true he's never been the focus in practice. I think this bowl game will be very telling of what to expect from him moving into next season.

I'm wondering what happens to sumlin if the team, and more specifically the offense, gets embarrassed against Louisville in the bowl game?

Louisville has a bunch of very close wins against 3-4 win teams. Syracuse, BC, Kentucky, Wake Forest and Virginia. Their other two wins were Samford and NCSU.

If we can't beat them regardless of who is playing QB, Sumlin truly is incompetent.

As for his future, I'm told a bad loss to UL would put the angry donors over the edge.

He's closer to losing his job this year than Liucci and company are letting on. He's living on a razor right now. If recruiting tanks before the end of the year or tge bowl game goes really bad, or one more off the field things comes up, it's gonna get fun.

It's unfortunate that if it doesn't happen, most will never know how close he came and those satin as much will be dismissed as crazy. He was a 30 minute phone call from being axed on Thursday evening. All BS aside, Sharp told a fib after it was decided to hold off for a bit.

Also, watch the Brandon Jones recruitment. It's starting to go south, and if he commits to Texas in the next few weeks that will turn the temperature up even more.

I'm telling you, it's any little thing at this point. Sumlin is just barely hanging on.
