No. They're 18-25-1. This was a game when you definitely recognized the value of good pitching. The fish didn't last the 1st inning, then Matt Kent retires the 16 batters he faces. No hits, no walks, no nothin'. We're up 7-3 when RC pulls Kent for Schlottman and all of a sudden it's a game again - tied 7-7. It took Vinson, Ecker, and Freeman to finish this off. Plus a nice rap by Nottebrook.

Banks needs to get his mojo back. The SEC's leading batter was 0-fer tonight and I don't remember him doing much against LSU, either. We need that guy badly.

Other than that, miracle cures for Stubblefield and Minter would be really nice.

UCLA drops one last night and DBU me bed back to 1 in the RPI.

LSU wins and the race to 40 is on. Both teams at 38 and both with very favorable match ups this weekend.

I agree. We really need banks and nau to hit like the did earlier.

I keep expecting someone to make a run in the Big 12 to at least give them 3 tourney teams but they went 1-5 yesterday with some truly horrific losses. They are in real danger of finishing behind the B1G in RPI

They are probably going to have fewer tourney teams this year than they had world series teams last

I think TTU might sneak in, but still you are right, it is down right sad. It really wasn't a bad league when we were in it. tu is an all time great, NEB had a hell of a run in the mid 00s, OU is a good program, and OSU is even better.

hmmm....let's play blind resume.

vs top 50
A: 2-6
B: 5-10
C: 2-7

vs 50-100
A: 11-5
B: 4-7
C: 6-9

RPI
A: 84
B: 79
C: 76

SOS
A: 121
B: 35
C: 85

Off just this, you have to pick one to make the tourney. Which?

I'm leaning A but damn this is actually tough

Limited info. It's A or B, not C. Both would be last team in level teams if at all. Edit: Actually I would say not at all.

We play B this weekend

But starting pitching isn't the issue is it? If we get 1 back would we shuffle a starter to a relievers spot?

oh, sorry left that out. It's Oklahoma.

They still have OSU and TCU on the schedule so they have room to make a run. They are in essence tied atop the B12 too. Losing to Wichita St yesterday was pretty crushing though

our starter didn't get out of the 1st in a midweek. I'd say that's an issue. I don't want to look it up but I don't believe we've had a starter go 7 in like 6 weeks. We have major issues in the rotation. We've just done a good job masking it most of the season thru hitting and bullpen.

Kent being sharp yesterday is excellent news. We desperately need someone besides Vinson to bridge games to Ecker

In an ideal world, if Stubbs can go, we'd shift Simonds back to long relief. But he needs to build arm strength to start games. I won't be at all surprised if Stubblefield starts the Sam game in 2 weeks btw. Maybe throw him 3 innings or so.

Just saw TCU lost again last night. It s was to DBU so it doesn't hurt too bad, but with their SOS of 80 right now, they're going to need 44-45 win range for a national seed I would guess.

not even sure what to say about the B12 anymore. They really are a mid-major this year. TCU is a good team with really good pitching. I don't want to be paired with them because I think their pitching makes them more dangerous than most potential hosts. And if TCU is not a national seed, I'm almost certain we'll be paired with them

Why are you any more certain we'd be paired with TCU over DBU? D1's latest had DBU and TCU paired and us with Okie St.

money and they'll try to minimize travel. TCU has a decent fanbase that will travel if it's not too far. The national seeds near FTW are us, then LSU, then...Illinois? If DBU got a seed then you could pair both of us with either B12 team (DBU played them both twice) I suppose.

But I'll be really surprised if we are the only national seed of the four (throwing in OSU) if TCU isn't paired with us. All 3 of TCU, DBU, OSU could be but 2 are going to have to fly no matter. And there's really no reason not to pair us with TCU - we haven't played, it's bus travel, it's got history.

I know what to say about the Big 12. This season, there will be more FORMER members than current members in the NCAA baseball tournament.
