Damn! That was a very, very good edge-of-your-seat game. Hats off to Rice. I do NOT want them in our regional!
31-2, dammit!!!!

ETA: Oops. Incorrectly attributed credit. It's actually Farmer1906 I'm expecting output from on the Rant. Do your thing, man.

RPI up to 2
SOS up to 77
We have 2 losses.
There are no 3 loss teams
There are no 4 loss teams
There is only 1 5 loss team (LSU)
So we could get swept this weekend and only be tied with LSU if they sweep.

Let's not make that a goal
Would love to sweep MSU to shut up all the local MSU grads. Not that they're talking much this year. But I'd still love it.
Vandy, by the way, lost to Lipscomb (is that a real place?) 3-1. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel about that. I guess glad it wasn't A&M.

Way off on a tangent but inquiring minds want to know. Old lady SafetySam and I have tossed this around a couple of times: I'm almost but not quite positive that A&M plays "The Hunger Games" "you're dead" tune when an opposing batter goes down. If you've seen any of the 3 movies you know what I'm talking about. Am I full of shite? (Either yes or no would not surprise me.)
If "yes", this is a brilliantly subtle troll job by A&M that I'm very proud of. If "no" I'd like to know where I've heard that tune.

Not sure, but I'm still trying to figure out childress' kid and the little dance he always does in the handshake line after a win.
Anybody else notice this? I've seen it several times.

you mentioned this around the first series of the year and it didn't dawn on me what you were talking about.
I'm fairly certain it's the Rifleman theme song that they play after a strikeout

Do we still want to fire Childress?

we talked about regionals around the state before so I thought I'd point out Boyd's World has the needs report up now LINK
this is from before tonight so it's already out of date but the state teams that are often talked about as potential hosts (this is approximate need for top 16 RPI). It does not take into account conference post-season games
A&M - 14 wins in final 23 (18 for top 8 RPI)
DBU - 15 wins in final 24 (19 for top 8 RPI)
TCU - 17 wins in final 24 (21 for top 8 RPI)
Rice - 17 wins in final 19
Houston - 19 wins in final 24
Tech - No way to reach the threshold
Texas - No way to reach the threshold
This appears to be very aggressive still as there are so many games to play and you don't know who else will lose, etc so it's probably on the safe side (48 wins seems an absurd threshold) but it seems an interesting jump off for discussion.
Tonight's loss probably took Rice out of the discussion tbh. I hope they go to Baton Rouge

Sounds like a trip to Olsen is in order for SS and FF.

We still have nothing to show for this season, just an amazing record through 33 games. This season has been awesome and next year is setting up to be special as well, but they will be judged on the final result.
