Ole Miss game cancelled. Are we still a national seed or do we need to win a game in the tourney?

Could be but going 0-2 will hurt. Need to remove all doubt.

Ole Miss scared. Rain is supposed to be done for the day in 30 min. Either their field is shite or they're scared.

As much as I can't stand Childress, he goes all out 100% to win Conference Tournaments. He holds nothing back.

Final #s
43-10 (4th best record)
18-10 (3rd in the SEC, 2nd in the west)
RPI: 7
ISR: 5
SOS: 55
vs top 25: 8-3 (only Florida, Florida St, & Auburn had more but they have 6, 7, and 10 losses)
vs 26-50: 4-3

I haven't broken down everyone's resume, but that looks like a national seed to me.

Bracket

All games are on the SECn with the exception of the final on ESPN2

Game 5 - Wed @ 9:30 AM
Texas A&M(3) vs Ole Miss(6)/Alabama(11) winner

If we win game 5
Game 11 - Thur @ 4:30 PM
Texas A&M(3) vs winner of Vanderbilt and Mizzou(7)/USCe(10) winner

If we lose game 5
Game 9 - Thur 9:30 AM
Texas A&M(3) vs loser of loser of Vanderbilt and Mizzou(7)/USCe(10) winner

I won't go any deeper than that. Ideally we want Ole Miss in game 5 as it represents another borderline top 25 win (sitting @24). Plus it lets us finish our series this past weekend. In round 2, assuming we win, we want Vanderbilt as it, again, represents a potential top 25 win. Even if we lose, there is no shame in losing to Vandy, it shouldn't hurt as bad if we lose to someone like Bama or Mizzou. 2-0 vs Ole Miss & Vandy not only locks us up as a national seed (In my mind) it starts moving us up the from 7 or 8 to 5 or 6. A 2-0 start also means we are eliminated after 1 loss, which isn't a bad thing. It means we can only go 2-1 at worst this weekend.

Considering our outlook after losing two arms at the start, this is amazing and wonderful

Thanks. We were picked 3rd in the west, 6th overall and weren't even ranked in a lot of polls preseason. We lost 2/3 best pitchers and still ended up as a borderline national seed. I'll take it for the regular season.

Well said. This is not a great team (which we all know). But we're dangerous, and we play to the last out. I like our chances in do-or-die situations.

The major problem right now - and I do think we're on the outside looking in still - is that #9 and #10 in RPI are both all but locks for national seeds. I think it may be between us, UF, Vandy and DBU for the final two. More than anything imo, we need to be better than UF and Vandy this week

Key metrics for those 4
RPI
----
1. DBU
6. UF
7. A&M
12. Vandy

Record vs top 25/50
DBU 4-7/4-0
UF 11-7/2-1
A&M 7-3/5-3
Vandy 6-7/5-1

Road/Neutral site record
DBU 19-7/0-0
UF 11-8/1-1
A&M 10-4/3-0
Vandy 13-7/2-2

Finish in conference
DBU - finished 2nd in #5 RPI MVC
UF - finished 4th in #1 RPI SEC
A&M - 3rd in SEC
Vandy - 2nd in SEC

I'm still of the mind that DBU won't get a seed. But I'll no longer be surprised if they do. They held onto the #1 RPI (though they pretty much have to win their tournament to keep it and even then they may not). But I also think there may be some bias against giving the SEC 3. And I really don't see anyone else in the mix besides these 4 for the final 2 spots

Assuming top 6 are
1. LSU
2. Louisville
3. UCLA
4. TCU
5. Miami
6. Illinois

This sums up my feelings on our squad quite nicely.

Assuming top 6 are
1. LSU - SEC
2. Louisville - ACC
3. UCLA - PAC
4. TCU - BIG12
5. Miami - ACC
6. Illinois - BIG10

That leaves 7 and 8. The only real contenders are UF, A&M, Vandy, DBU, and FSU. I think A&M and UF have the best 2 resumes. FSU and DBU have the worst. If DBU loses the #1 RPI they should not get a national seed. If the only reason not to give it to 2 SEC teams if to prevent 3 SEC teams from being national seeds then you can;t give it to FSU either because that would mean ACC would get 3. Jump in on the polls thread on the main board. Its going down to the wire.

I'd dare say FSU has zero shot at a seed now. Not only is their RPI 14, they lost 5 of their last 6 games including getting swept at home by Clemson, who is a borderline tourney team, this weekend. The rest of their resume isn't enough to overcome those 2 things.

I agree. I just wanted to make my point about 3 ACC teams vs 3 SEC teams. The last spot has to go to someone and at this point its DBU or an SEC team.

The LSU fans are not as knowledgable as you and it really pisses them off.

It's great

Thanks Sarge

Just read this on TA
quote:

Coach Childress in his weekly interview with Louie Belina today said the Ags would start Long on Wednesday and Kent on Thursday.

I think this is a mistake. We need to save Long for Vandy/the game that gets us intot he Semis. If we lose to OM/Bama with Kent then so be it, we don't deserve the national seed. We are going to be in a world of trouble if Vandy saves Fulmer.
