He was another one that was thought wouldn't qualify for a *looooong* time. Sounded like UGA was going to go after him along with Herrien during the summer but then we backed off. Not sure why, but guessing that Smart wants to balance commits across multiple classes and DL was a pretty big class this year. Now we're looking at possible JUCO guys. I think you're getting a hell of an athlete if you can keep him eligible.

That's what I read as well.
It sounds like Bama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida St. among others were after him pretty hard until they realized how big of an issue his grades were.
Now that he's got all of that taken care of he will be moving up here and practicing with the team immediately.
I'm really happy with the pickup. I don't think we've had this much depth across the DL in my adult life.

CB's are starting to roll in for Trey Smith to UT over the last several days. With the full court press being put on and his sister just accepting a role in the football operations department you've gotta feel like we are slowly becoming the heavy favorite to land him. Great news and good move by CBJ and staff to bring his sister on.

I think Smith ends up at UT. Hes an EE so we should know something by December at the absolute latest. Doug Matthew's said that he expects us to lose 3-5 off of the current commitment list before NSD as well.

UT picks up an instate commitment from 4* WR K. Scurry in the 2019 class. Scout is the only service that currently has him rated at: #88 in the country , but this is what Barton Simmons tweeted regarding his 247 ranking

Not surprised, but still disappointed. Jones nearly committed at the O/W game but immediately got an offer from OSU. Three months later, OSU commit.

No, I don't think so. Even if Moore commits we definitely take Smith and maybe 1 more OL if they can find the right guy. Maybe Eze? I'm not sure

I have a question for y'all regarding LaTrell Bumphus. What position is he being recruited for? We offered as a pass rusher, but I've seen some people say he could be a beast TE.

According to Paul Fortenberry we are recruiting him as a defensive lineman.
