Gary Patterson is first tier.

Patterson won't happen. We're not going to pay him 7 million, and he's not gonna leave TCU for a penny less.

I would take him over Chip Kelly in a heartbeat.

The guy wins at TCU.

He is my second choice behind Stoops.

Look guys, Patterson is the longest shot on the hot board, we're more likely to land Gruden, seriously.

I don't get the big love fest about Patterson tbh. He's very good and I would absolutely take him but I do not believe he's in the grand slam tier like King Jon, Stoops and Chip.

Just like Petersen; Dominated a shitty conference. Given a little bit (i.e. 2 years, not 7) he can ramp up and coach with the big boys.

Wouldn't be my first choice, but definitely would not be disappointed at all with Sweaty Patty.

I do agree with this. But he is in no way second tier, IMO.

Only bc I really don't think a Gruden is happening lol

Until the ink is dry, Gruden isn't happening.

That doesn't mean I won't indulge in the plethora of Gruden nuggets we will see up until a new coach is announced.

Right now I rank the likelihood of the Tier 1 hires at

1. Stoops ( don't ask me why)
2. Kelly (NCAA baggage moves him down a spot).
3. Gruden (because I want to believe)
4. Peterson ( Only if we made an offer so ridiculous that he couldn't refuse)
5. Patterson ( He's been at TCU in some capacity for 20 years, he's in a weak conference where he can dominate, he'll never get fired from TCU, and even if we over paid and offered him 7+Million, I don't think he'd take it).

Gotcha. I just know he's never left that region for a reason. I didn't know if he had family or something in Knoxville.

This will be an awesome time filled with tons of rumors. Gongrats on all the fun that's gonna happen in the next few months.

IIRC, which is a long shot cause I'm really digging through my brain here, seems like when he finally left Boise for Washington the given reason he didn't leave that region was bc he has a son with some health problems that's better off to be over there

Like I said could be wrong cause my memory is real hazy but seems like something very similar to that was the situation

You're right. But I think his son is ok enough now to leave.

Peterson's father is a Seattle native and he grew up watching Washington football.

Peterson was born and raised in Northern California. He is a Pacific Northwest guy at heart.
