Is he fired Sunday if we lose to South Carolina

I believe the way we were going to handle this was to kick the can down the road as long as they could and hope that Butch either 8-4 or better in order to retain him one more year. Then 41-0 happened, kroot decomits, Butch being Butch and just saying stupid stuff in the BYE week press conference which led to more bad exposure, another fight, etc. has sped up the timeline.
If we have another lackluster effort, show zero resiliency and lose to South Carolina by double digits or more, I think Butch may be done on Sunday. If not he is definitely done after the inevitable Alabama loss. A close game or a win vs USC extends him until we lose to Southern Miss or UK.

Even if he is fired we only get an interim until the season ends.
No coach worth a damn would quit on his team mid-season to join another team. We wouldn't even want them if they were willing to do that.

I get waiting but 3-4, 0-4 in the SEC is shameful. I could see waiting until we aren't bowl eligible (7 losses) as well or after a loss to USM, UK or Mizz.

I just don't see anyway they can push this back if he loses to South Carolina and Alabama but maybe I'm being optimistic.
Like you said, recruiting is bad, the fan base is at an all time level of disgruntled and even if he beats SCe, I don't see that changing anything. Hubbs kind of tiptoed around it last week but did say that the end of October would likely be when Currie would do it.
Another thing to consider is the early signing period. That's going to change how quickly ADs will react going forward imo. Currie is a god damn buffoon if he waits until mid-November to pull the trigger because this class will be completely fricked.

I don't think losing to USCe will get him fired Sunday barring something remarkable I think it'll be at least until after Bama

They already fricked up this deal by bringing him back after last year.
They are going to fire him. That is a done deal.
You mark my words. Hoke or Fulmer will be the "interim".
Interim meaning named permanent at the end of the season because we beat Vandy and UK. Then we'll be stuck with the "interim" for the next 4 or 5 years...but we'll save $2-3 million a year.
Don't worry guys....we'll probably be "working like heck" real soon.

Well obviously I was bc I clicked "replies" under my post and your response came up
Anyways I hope you are just trolling about the interims, otherwise you live in some bizarro fantasy land

No way that happens with the shite show at LSU with EdO serving as a tale for the wise.

You have a lot more faith in Mike Hamilton Jr. as the AD than I do.
Hamilton lived in bizarre fantasy land. We have his protégé as our AD.
You do the math.

The only way this doesn't get fricked up is if the big donors step in and take control.
They haven't done that with the last three hires. Why now?

The more I think about it. You are correct.
Looking back on the last three hires. How could I ever suspect the UT admins will frick this up royally?
What was I thinking?

I'm hanging onto hope that things will be different this time because Hart, Cheek and Martin are all gone. UTAD is no longer in the red, financially, and actually made more money than any other athletic department in the SEC in the last fiscal year.
And I'm really, really hoping all this smoke about boosters being disgruntled and wanting to compete at an elite level again is true.
Lots of wishful thinking, I know.

I think the boosters are ready to go big or go home.
I'm worried about a power play by UT admins. The same type of power play Beverly Davenport pulled when she hired Currie.
Beverly Davenport is Cheek with tits and on steroids.

I genuinely think Currie's hiring had more to do with Haslam than Davenport.
And I seriously doubt Davenport takes as meaningful role in this coaching search.

We shall see. I have zero faith in the UT admins not to frick this up.
