We did not contact Patterson in 2012. We interviewed him in 2008, and he had his bags packed for Knoxville, then at the last minute, Mike Hamilton hired Kiffin instead. And then had the nerve to take Patterson and his wife to dinner to inform him that we were going with someone else, AFTER KIFFIN HAD ALREADY SIGNED.
Then the day after Kiffin bolted to USC, Hamilton called Patterson again, Patterson told him to frick off.

I usually don't mind fans of other teams posting here, but many of these tools are ruining this coaching search. VOLS thrive in this environment.

You aren't kidding about this. I just got a text from my brother in law. He said the folks on VQ were tracking Phillips' plane and several were actually at the airport waiting for it to land. Some VQ mod got on there and said Gruden likely wasn't on the plane, but Hubbs was oddly one of the folks waiting in his car for the plane to land.
