I’m indifferent towards Helton. Hard to tell if his play calling sucks considering how soft our oline is.

I think Helton is gonna be retained and though I have issues with some of the game planning I don’t think it’s fair to judge him with the talent being where it is

Also, I know the oline is beyond horrendous but I think it’s time for someone to address Gitmo ‘s pocket awareness. Seems to have no internal clock and is never aware of what might be coming from his blindside

Helton won't be fired but he may decide to take another job. His brother was just retained at USC and it wouldn't surprise many people to see Tyson head back there.

I think part of it is intentional -- he's standing in there willing to take the hit so his guys can get open because the OL really is just that bad and our WRs though good are all big guys. We don't have any speedsters at WR and that hurts in terms of getting the ball out quickly because our guys just aren't getting open as quickly as a speedster would (which is why it was annoying that we didn't use Chandler and the RBs as pass catchers a little more but Helton felt we needed them for max protect).

However, JG still needs to work on sensing pressure. He had one play this year where he felt it perfectly (might've been against UK). He felt the pressure, ran, and threw for a nice gain. He needs to be doing that more.

ESPN is saying Helton is the lead candidate for the WKU job:

Tennessee offensive coordinator Tyson Helton has emerged as a top candidate to replace Sanford as the Hilltoppers' head coach, sources told ESPN.

That would be nice. With what we're paying Helton, the job will be attractive to a lot of candidates if he is indeed on his way out which looks likely.

No way Pruitt goes after an air raid guy like Kliff imo.

Freeze would be a grand slam home run as an elite offensive mind and an elite recruiter with Memphis ties. Wouldn’t be surprised if Chip Lindsey’s name pops up either.

Promoting Friend would be blah

SECR would explode if we hired Kiffin in any form or fashion.

I really do not know how to feel about Helton in general, but I am confident that he is not worth the $1.2 million we are paying him.

Him taking a head coaching job would be the best case scenario.

That's the only way you can have him leave. We could not fire him after this year, that would be abysmal for recruiting/optics. Bring in Freeze and let's roll.

Bring Hugh Home. He's a good man and can quote scripture.

Kiffin is a no go. Freeze is the target numero uno, but Sankey has to give us the approval (You know Saban will protest). Enos has been mentioned, wouldn't be a bad choice at all.

Who else is available that doesn't suck?

I am being told that the No. 1 target for the #Vols as their next OC is Hugh Freeze but there may be some hoops to jump through. But he is the leader in the clubhouse. -Darren McFarland (ESPN Nashville host)

Freeze has very real interest in the job. There's no question about that. I think the fundamental question is what kind of offense does Pruitt want to play. That will determine ultimately what his pool of candidates looks like
