That was brutal -- Defense was awful and we couldn't hit a wide open shot to save our life. Wtf was that about :(

Have to agree. We shot poorly, we didn't share the ball, we didn't crash the boards, and we got our asses kicked.
Hopefully they refocus, I think they will.

I just finished watching that Barnes post game press conference and agree.
We finally had an off night on offense and got beat thoroughly because of it. Disappointing to see it play out like that after all the good games that we've had in the series the last 4-5 years. With the slip in defense I wondered what would happen if we had a night where several of our shooters had an off game/went 0fer and we continued to play defense at the current level... and the results were about what I expected. We got drilled. 3pts from Bowden, 4pts from Turner, 4pts from Alexander and getting abused on the glass isn't gonna get it done.
The defense has to find a way to get their edge back because it is MIA like a mf right now

We played like poo.
No ball distribution, couldn't get 3's, horrendous rebounding, didn't press. All around we looked like dog dookie.
I'm not someone who blames the refs beyond the average miss call but not having a single free throw till halfway through the 2nd half was suspect at best. We didn't do what we needed to draw fouls but officiating was a major last night.
As an aside, Rupp was LOUD. Hopefully fans at TBA take notice, I don't think we've come close to matching that level of home-court advantage.

Honestly though while that game sucked arse, all in all it’s not that important. We’re still tied for first with LSU and control our own destiny. The big game is this Saturday against LSU. With how easy the rest of their schedule is they may not lose again. Saturday is a must win.

Agreed. It was an absolute arse beating, but shouldnt be a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Lol people had to wait a good while to do all the "VOLS are overrated" talk...this team will be fine. Definitely need to play inside out and tighten up some defensively, but those things are easily fixable.
I am curious to see how Prick defends Vandy on Tuesday because they ate VOLS lunch in Nashville. Hopefully he defends those screens differently but I guess we will see. I still think this team makes a deep tourney run.
ETA: And credit to UK, they are talented like always and Cal always gets them playing well when it counts.

Seemed to me our D played a lot better when he went to the Zone on Saturday. I know Barnes hates it but some answers may lie there

I think what happened in Rupp yesterday was an invaluable lesson for our team.
We softened after going two months without playing any blue bloods. All we had from mid-December through Saturday were mediocre OOC teams and the weakest links of the SEC. Our defense was slacking, and this was coming.
Personally, I am happy our guys managed to close a 24-point lead to 12 with a couple minutes to go. Still an ugly loss as UK put up some last minute points, but we seemed to figure them out a little bit later in regulation.
Some pointers:
1) We need to quit sucking dick to begin the second half. This is a thing with us.
2) When UK comes back to TBA, we know who to look for. PJ, Keldon, and Herro did all of the dirty work, and those individuals went on hot shooting runs with ease.
3) Off night with shooting. Couldn't buy a basket, and I think a lot of it had to do with how hard it is to play in Rupp. Hopefully just an anomaly and not a trend.
Lastly, I think we will upset LSU. There will be a lot of angry and melty corndogs on the rant next week.
