Zone defense will generally get you beat in the SEC this year

There are a lot of very good QBs in the SEC this year that pick apart a zone like a redneck picking jerky out his teeth. Whoever wins this league this year is going to a team that can play man to man, or just very very lucky.

You can play zone but you better get some pressure on the qb. All that ten yard cushion with a 3 man rush non sense needs to stop.

You've got to be able to do both.
These mobile QBs will destroy man coverage with their legs.
But you have to be able to mix coverages to slow down processing and allow a pass rush a chance.

Gunner is hell against man coverage.
You've got to change it up to get that hesitation. Man coverage is easy for QB processing. And if pressure leaves a gap or misses, you let the QBs legs hurt you.
But like you said, soft zone gets carved up by efficient teams too.
