Should a pass that bounces off of a WR be a fumble or a pick?

I was just thinking that the INT for Leavitt was in no way his fault, but it goes on his stat line.
Shouldn't a pick that is the result of a ball bouncing off of or out of the hands of a WR be something else, like a fumble?

The throw was behind the receiver, that was an interception.

Still a pick. He threw it behind the receiver. I’m not impressed with his passing. He needs polishing before he gets in SEC play.

It was a terrible throw. Absolutely his fault.

Statistically, it cant be a fumble if there was no demonstrated possesion from the WR.

I always looked at it as taking the good with the bad. For instance, the QB gets a passing TD for a screen pass that goes 60 yards.
