Serious question: Why didn’t OM hire Weiss, Jr as HC?

I’m actually curious, why they didn’t just go ahead and offer Weiss Jr. the HC job.
Granted, it would be hist first HC Job, but this is Gding’s first HC gig as well.
Young guy that you would keep a lot of the Kiffin like tendencies and program management.
Plus he’s and
Offensive genius
Leaned at the feet of the guy that just left them.
The Pete hire is a head scratcher.

I’m guessing Golding’s Mississippi ties is what gave him the edge in that situation but honestly don’t know.

Pete was the glue of the team. Lane is an incredible offensive mind but it’s well known he didn’t do the player roorah stuff. Hiring Pete was an easy decision. If we didn’t, we lose a lot of the players. Weis wasn’t keeping those guys around. Great OC but he’s quiet and we needed a leader.

The short answer is that LSU lock him down with a contract super fast.

Gosling may have been the “glue”, but don’t you have to project out past a year or two if you are the AD? “Glue” of that group of players, but what about long term?
Weiss, Jr. would have been my choice if I were an OM fan.
I predict that he will be OM’s HC within the next 3 years.

I mean, Weiss was 32 at the time. Wouldn’t that be the youngest SEC HC ever? I think even Kiffin was 34 at Tennessee and look how that turned out. Hard to believe the money guys at Ole Miss would have signed off on it.
If he proves himself somewhere without Kiffin for a year or two, I’d be much more receptive at some point.
