On a fumble like that…? Need rule clarification

I thought you can only move a fumble forward if you go get your own fumble ?? If another player on your team gets it doesn’t it come back to spot of fumble?
Either way that was horse shite a call as I’ve ever seen
Why don’t teams just fumble forward to their own teammate, get it… first down every time??!

It looked like barely a forward pass. But even if a fumble, no one went to recover it so it should go back to spot of fumble, yes?

I think they got it wrong . It was an incomplete pass.
And even if it is a fumble, which it wasn’t, it should come back to spot of fumble IMO. Dumb rule if you can just fumble forward and first down if your guy gets it
