Thanks DL. Was wondering what this kids story is.
Yessir. I think KellerChristFan said it ebst. Morris is a very talented Olineman, and could be excellent. His biggest problem was development by UTs OLine coach.
He could definitely be salvageable by whoever gets him, but it might take some work.

two injuries and two separate stints in contact tracing will probably throw a wrench into some things
Add poor coaching to it and shake it all up and what have you got?
Contact tracing shouldn't have done anything to hurt him, though.

Tons of kids missed time because of contact tracing.

It's been inferred that Friend will recruit the OL & TE, while Bedell coaches the positions...at least that's what we're telling ourselves
That would be a smart move on Auburn's part. friend is a great recruiter....he just falls short in the development area. It will be interesting to see how it plays out for you guys. Let him recruit then tell him to step back.

Former Vols OL Wanya Morris names top three transfer destinations (247)
quote:
Tennessee offensive lineman Wanya Morris officially entered the NCAA Transfer Portal earlier this week, and he has already narrowed down his list of destinations. The former five-star recruit revealed his top three options on social media.
Just days after entering the transfer portal, Morris posted his three finalists to Twitter. Morris’ next stop will be west of the Mississippi River as he announced that Oklahoma, USC, and Texas A&M were the three teams that he will be choosing between.
The 6-foot-5, 320-pound Morris, who's from Savannah, Ga., and starred at Grayson High School in Loganville, was rated a five-star prospect and ranked the No. 28 overall player, No. 6 offensive tackle and No. 5 player in Georgia by the industry-generated 247Sports Composite when back in May 2019 he chose Tennessee over Auburn and scholarship offers from most of the SEC plus Clemson, Florida State, Oklahoma and others.
The Volunteers were hoping that 2020 would be the year that Morris really took the next step and developed as a player. However, COVID-19 protocols and an injury hampered what the talented offensive lineman was able to do throughout the fall. Morris missed a lot of time in preseason camp due to contact tracing procedures, and he also had to battle through an ankle injury.
After missing so much time, Morris found it hard to get caught up with his teammates. He did as much as possible over Zoom, but he wasn’t able to get as much work in physically, which he says was the hardest part of it all.
“It’s definitely the get-back-in-shape part,” Morris said back in November. “I mean, I’m staying on top of the plays as much as I can, being on Zoom and stuff like that, but there’s nothing like getting those actual reps in practice, and me not being in practice is really hurting me a lot, or [at least] a little bit. Practice makes perfect, or practice makes permanent. Just being able to, like, [practice] is important. Missing those practices is really detrimental, but we’re working towards a better goal right now.”
Morris felt like he was behind from the jump because he couldn’t be shoulder to shoulder with his teammates as they prepared for the 2020 season.
“It was definitely challenging, being that that I didn’t get even spring camp, also,” Morris said. “Not being able to be out there with my teammates to get those reps hurts, but definitely I was staying on the Zoom calls with Coach Friend, Coach Pruitt, just being involved with the team, being as involved as I can, just trying stay ahead if I can, while I’m in quarantine. It was really just trying to stay ahead or not get behind — at least try to stay where I’m at or get better."

Might as well be, right? He certainly ran those kids recruitment like a parent.

I got so bad that Chaney had to take over oline coaching for a good portion of last year. And even Fulmer was helping out. Yet somehow Friend was getting $800k.

Yes, he did. I just took your comment literally at first.

I knew we were ready for him to go when he was here. I thought maybe he had improved or something. With the OLine you guys had, you should have been able to do just about anything offensively.
He keeps getting jobs, though.

Really? I didn't remember that. not saying you are wrong, just saying I thought his development was weak while here.

Our 2012-2014 OL were very good and he signed way too many 3 star projects.

Why do we as fans feel the need to trash players especially if they had a rough year. Wayna is a talented kid but obviously has a rough day against a talented Georgia front but sometimes a change of scenery can be good for a kid and A&M seems like a good fit as they are playing well. Always some type of sour grapes mentality when a kid doesn’t choose the home school. We good on the OL. Don’t need to go trash this kid in the process.

So saying a player won’t be an all American is trashing them? I said he had a poor performance and then backed it up.

Where? He was never coming to UGA then or now. No need to be this sensitive. It’s a fact he didn’t play well and pointing it out isn’t trashing him personally.
