Kevin Harris from Hinesville, GA isn't someone we've been recruiting. TBH he's not someone I've ever even heard of. However, after camping at Carolina today, measuring in at 5'11" 230lbs, running a 4.5 flat with a 35" vert and being put through the drills, Muschamp pulled the trigger and the young man followed it up with a commitment. Always good to see a guy sans all the hype come in and grind an offer out in camp.

Some of the best players we've ever had have been discovered like that. Not as many kids get missed anymore, but there are still some.

Considering the size of the town, over the years Hinesville has been good to USCe.

This is how Auburn found Sammie Coates. Good story.

Charles Harris hadn't even attended any football camps at all. He wanted to play basketball. We offered him on signing day because we had a scholarship to give and his HS coach made a call. Our staff was only able to view his basketball film.

He ended up leaving early as a first round pick.

Man Chris Jones was an awesome story. Came in and got a camp offer and everyone laughed that we took an unrated guy. Proceeded to get 130+ tackles and an insane amount of sacks and tfl his senior year. Then dominated the all star games and went from unrated to 5*. Love stories like that.

Pretty sure he was referring to body build

Where did I claim he was?

Chubb probably would have been a Gamecock were it not for SPURrier deciding he wanted to play golf that weekend rather than being on campus for Chubb's visit.

We all knew about Chubb.

What I was comparing is body-types. Harris has the same build as Chubb coming out of HS.

Unlikely. Chubb was always a lean to UGA. He idolized Lattimore so USCe had a decent shot, but that’s far from a likely hypothetical. Not that it matters.

My point originally was that Chubb was a known commodity as a high profile stud high school running back. The comparison seems hasty. It’s not like that build is super rare among college football recruits.

Okay, you win. I was wrong. There are a lot of 5-11 230 RBs running sub 4.6 forties and 4.1 shuffles out there ... you're right. My bad. It was a bad comparison. Don't know what got into me. Temporary insanity I guess.

I dunno. I just remember all the pics of Chubb posted by UGA fans at the time, straight out of HS. He was what, 6-0 225 out of HS?

It’s not super uncommon for dudes to lift like crazy and get jacked up while being able to run fast in a straight line and train themselves to do drills well. It’s called being a workout warrior, and most of them end up at linebacker. That wasn’t what made Chubb what he was. What made him special was that he was those things while maintaining flexibility, fluidity, and balance along with pro level vision. Those are the things that his injury messed with.

This guy may be able to do those things, but until he does that comparison is unfair to him.

Also to be fair, the majority of that came against his first 5 opponents who are schools at least half BI's size or smaller with over 800 of it coming against 3 teams that went a combined 11-29 in 3A.

However, the kid does have a ton of talent and I'm glad to see players still earn scholarships the old fashioned way.

Edit: He did have some great games with over 100 yards against his district opponents like Brunswick

running a 4.5 flat

He ran a 4.78 at the opening a couple of months ago. That's still a very good time for a 230 pound man and he may well do better now, but 4.5 flat might be mistimed.
