Regarding Mobile, there just haven't been a ton of elite talent out of there.

What?? There's 12 guys from mobile in the NFL, leading the country per capita. That goes up higher if you included Baldwin county. It's one of the more fertile recruiting grounds in the entire country.

Yeah Mobile is definitely a recruiting hotbed. I had to LOL when they said it wasn't "elite." So tired of everyone using that word btw.

May wanna edit those last two sentences out of your post... I'm not a local and don't have inside info like some of these others but there is a shite ton of elite talent in the Mobile area.

Freeze hired the Siskey guy to try and make Ole Miss some inroads down there but Saban put an end to that shite quickly.

Nice article on LSU recruiting Mobile now that Craig is on the staff:

quote:

Steve Mask is used to witnessing it by now. He has seen it for going on nine years.

Dameyune Craig walks into a classroom or a gymnasium at St. Paul’s Episcopal School in Mobile, Alabama. He scans the area, smiles and turns on that hometown charm.

“He can call kids by their names,” said Mask, football coach at St. Paul’s. “He can say, ‘I know your mom. I know your dad.’ ”

LSU has decided to make Mobile a priority,” Mask said. “As they say, I think business is about to pick up.”

Depends if you consider all South Alabama as "Mobile Area"
Mobile itself, which is where DCraigs pull is strongest, has a bunch of solid players but it isn't a build your team stockpile

The majority of truly elite talent in South Alabama is not from Mobile as locals would define it

No person living in Baldwin County considers themselves as living in the Mobile area. Mobile is Mobile and Baldwin county is not Mobile. Mobile is a shite hole I never even go to unless it's somewhere on the Causeway. That place sucks.
