There it is folks.. Bama was just fricking around recruiting the others, they really didn't want them.

You name me one recruit that Bama went head to head and got beat for in Mobile and Baldwin county since Saban has been there? You could say Tre as Bama did offer but he himself said he had not had much contact with Bama's staff when he committed so I don't think that was even a battle really.

Well, that was going to be my example, but Tre was all Auburn from the get go. He really didn't do the recruiting circus, so I doubt he showed much interest. Regardless, to be honest, Bama/AU don't really go head to head that often. Yes I know, Bama wins those 90% of the time with Saban, but it is strange both schools are on different players the vast majority of the time.

I could be wrong, but I believe Johnson will be a back up plan for Bama,AU, or LSU. Likely to sign SEC, but one of us will miss on other targets before taking him.

And that was really my point; they don't go head to head very often and I believe the reason Tre was never really pursued was because he was all Auburn. Usually, in this area, the kids Bama wants they get and vice versa with Auburn. Craig is popular in this area no doubt but Bama and Auburn will get theirs in southwest Alabama no matter who is doing the recruiting.

Dude. AU was not getting Winston. Ever. It was FSU or Bama. It could have been Bama in June before Winston's SR year, but McElwain was in love with Kiel and thought the kid was good for his word when he silently committed. Bama still pursued Winston but not nearly as hard as Craig and FSU did.

Also, if you are from - or know anyone from - the Bessemer/Hueytown area of Bham, then you have likely heard many of the stories about Winston being trouble in HS. A lot of that got brushed off as a "boy being a boy" until he got the negative headlines he got in Tallahassee.

Ahh...the good ole "your school never had a chance but mine did even though neither ended up with him because of some bullshite excuse I have for him not coming to my school!" argument. An oldie but a goodie.

Don't misunderstand me. It was clear in august that Kiel was not coming and Bama tried to turn up heat on Winston to no avail. Bama wanted him and didn't get him. I'm not using some "bs excuse". That said, he was never going to AU. That's not a knock on AU. You guys have signed a ton of great talent in recent years. It's more a reflection on Winston and those around him and those he trusted most.

Except you are.

We were only considered one of the favorites if not the favorite during the summer. Then we had improper contact with him and self-imposed a penalty where we wouldn't recruit him for a few months. At that point, sure you could say he wasn't coming to Auburn

I wasn't complimenting you.

Your sarcasm would make sense if what you quoted was about you but it wasn't so...

So what do you appreciate?

Also, this is a nice deflection from the original argument. Good work.

Nice pair of boobs, the taste of a steak cooked right, the opportunity to celebrate multiple national titles recently. You know, the finer things in life.

We are talking recruiting not production. If Craig pulled a highly recruited top ~150 kid, it is relevant even if he turned out to be worse than walkons

ETA: Craig has pull in South Alabama I don't think that is debatable. Hard to beat Alabama with their on field success + widespread fanbase in the state.

Regarding Mobile, there just haven't been a ton of elite talent out of there. What little there is goes to Bama

Well, Tre was "offered" the same way we "offer" 200 guys a year.
