Rivals or 247?

I like rivals. A lot of people use 247 composite because it gives a average of espn, 247, and rivals, maybe one or two more can’t remember. Most schools fans just use whatever highest in to tout their recruiting. Espn is my least favorite they are consistently so far off the other services I just don’t find them realistic.

Rivals is only marginally better than ESPN at this point. They don’t even scout every region In person.

Rivals used to be King until their best talent left to start 247. I think 247 is the standard now and Rivals has really gone downhill.

IMO, 247's own rankings are often pretty bad or out of date, but their composite is probably the standard now and really should be. It's an integration of 247, Rivals and ESPN.

They use their own calculation to derive the team scores. If you notice, after several recruits, when a new one is added, the value of a number of the existing recruits decreases. In some cases, kids who earlier in the year added ~10 pts, now add ~1, etc. It's difficult to figure how they determine incremental value. So, a highly ranked kid who might add 25 pts early in the year may add 12 by the time your team has 15-20 recruits.

If I recall, they only take the top 20 recruits in a class to calculate team score. Maybe later in the year when there are close to 20, adding a new recruit changes the mix of the class and results in a different attribution by player? That’s just a guess. I really have no idea.

Until Rivals covers the entire country they don't belong in the conversation.

247 has the best features. The Composite and the Crystal Ball are the industry standard.

With the merger of 247 and Scout they should have the most resources

Really comes down to your team specifically. Some Rivals team sites are better than others but for most part I think 247 is the superior service

Nationally? 247 and it probably isn’t close

But as said above it’s about your own market. For A&M it’s neither. There are about 4-5 different options for pay to follow A&M recruiting and get “Inside” info.

Oklahoma fans asked me what's State recruiting ranking. I told them 11th. They told me Rivals got State 17th and that was the premier recruiting site. I only use 247 cause State is higher. So, from what I get out of this is the Big 12 use rivals while the SEC uses 247

On this site - I believe most people use the composite ranking as it's the most 'unbiased'. You catch shite for using just rivals or 247. Just look back thru the posts.

That may be true, but the incremental value begins to change long before 20.

Just use 247 composite. Anyone that uses just one is trying to make their team look better. Most OU posters have really tiny dicks. They feel the need to constantly compensate by coming to an SEC forum and use shitty practices to boost their small fragile egos.

Man you can’t let that 77-0 beating get out of your head. Deep breaths and say Boomer Sooner! Seriously though why all the hate.

Rivals is probably a more thorough evaluation but they hamstring themselves because they put so much weight on their camps
