Appears redneck Kiffin is aiming to plant a VOLS flag at the 50 yard line of Grayson’s football field imo

Well AU's AD just confirmed Gus will be back next year. The consensus among AU folks has been that if coaching staff stays, Pappoe will stick. We'll see if that proves true or not...

I know what you mean, but if I am a recruit...the fact that they have to come out and say he will be back would be very concerning to me. But, that's just me. I do think he will be at Auburn, though.

Exactly - if feels like Gus is a (very wealthy) dead man walking every single year. But who knows what recruits and their parents weigh when choosing a program these days?

It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Short of an absolute disaster you've got to think Pruitt will be given time to see Pappoe's eligibility play out.

If I'm a parent or recruit (And I don't even mean in this particular Pappoe AU/UT situation) I want to be sure that the staff that I'm committing to is going to be there for the duration of time that I plan on attending said University for. If Gus trips and falls again next season you've got to think he'll be shown the door or viewed in a negative light (And he already is by many in Auburns fan base). I'd be surprised if that doesn't weigh in on the final decision. All of the love that Pruitt has gotten on social media from his past players at Bama/UGA/FSU in terms of being able to develop and send guys to the league on the defensive side of the ball seem to be helping us as well. Pappoe has mentioned as much in some of our articles detailing his visits/thoughts on Pruitt.

VOLS may or may not get his pledge, but they're certainly going to be in this one to the end.

From Chad Simmons of Rivals mailbag article this morning:

Question: How solid is Owen Pappoe and Geroge Pickens to Auburn

quote:

I see one more solid than the other at this time. I still like Auburn’s chances with George Pickens at this time, but Alabama is still one to watch.

With Owen Pappoe, Tennessee is a real threat. Georgia is expecting him on campus this weekend, but the Vols are viewed more of a threat to Auburn than the Bulldogs at this time. Pappoe was in Knoxville last week for the Charlotte game instead of being at Auburn for the Texas A&M game.

There is a lot of chatter behind the scenes right now about Pappoe and Tennessee. The Vols are expecting him in Knoxville on Dec. 14, the last weekend before the Early Signing Period. So Auburn should be worried here. I do feel Alabama is a threat for Pickens, but not at the same level Tennessee is for Pappoe.

VOLS getting that last visit before early signing day

Last I heard we have not been talking to Pappoe very much. Seems we are concentrating on Dean, more. Things obviously could change, but I am not seeing Georgia as much of a threat for Pappoe. Probably all Auburn and Tennessee.

We haven’t had a coach slap around Auburn like this since the Battle Captain was in his formative years

That last weekend will be interesting. Apparently AU believes he will use his AU OV that weekend

No denying Vols have made a strong push. It appears that Wanya Morris was the elite recruiter from that Grayson bunch. Gonna be a fight to the finish

There has been plenty of buzz lately surrounding Tennessee’s continued pursuit of five-star Auburn linebacker commitment Owen Pappoe of Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga., a friend and teammate of five-star Vols offensive tackle commitment Wanya Morris. And with Pappoe now a week removed from his latest visit to Tennessee, sources close to his recruitment have continued to indicate that the Vols have some serious momentum with him as he moves toward a final decision. Pappoe visited Georgia on Saturday night, but according to multiple sources, Tennessee has emerged as the biggest threat to Auburn and is likely to get another visit from him soon.

Pappoe seems to have some concerns about the Tigers’ recent struggles on the field, and his longstanding relationships with multiple members of the Vols’ staff made it easy for him to feel comfortable at Tennessee during his trip to Knoxville on Nov. 3 for the Vols’ homecoming win over Charlotte. One highly ranked prospect who knows Pappoe even told 247Sports that he believes the Auburn commitment ultimately will end up at Tennessee. It’s too early to suggest with any certainty that he’s Knoxville-bound, but the Vols have made a major move and have given themselves a legitimate chance of stealing him away from the Tigers.

I wil say this. Apparently Pappoe was at the UGA?AU game Saturday, and was wearing Georgia gear. An unusual thing to do for a kid committed to Auburn.

That said, I am sure Georgia would make room for him if he wanted to flip...but I think it makes a stronger case that he is definitely looking around. Tennessee has to feel pretty good about him, and Auburn should be very, very nervous.

Yeah.. on unofficials, I guess there isn't much they can or probably would do, but officials, I can't think of a time where the kid wasn't wearing at least something of the team he was visiting... be it a hat, jacket, something.

Well, I didn't want to come out and say this, but I saw some Auburn posters talking about Pappoe being at the game, but he was there to watch Auburn.

He very well may have been. He doesn't seem to factor into our plans that much. I think we'd make a spot for him if we felt we'd land him, but I really just don't the the coaches expect him.

Just because he was on an OV and we supplied him with UGA gear doesn't mean that he wasn't there to have a good time, see how Auburn competed and continue evaluating where he wants to go. Possibly that's UGA, but I tend to agree with the general buzz that if he's going to flip, UT seems to have a bit of momentum in their corner. He wants a depth chart that is going to allow him to play early and be a "key cog" in the defense. At UGA, that simply may not be the case.

Would I like to have him? Absolutely, if nothing else than to prevent him from going to a yearly opponent... But it will be what it will be.

I understand that we are dealing with a different animal than when I played, but if I were committed to one school, I would have never worn gear from my schools rival. Ever.

And, yes. I would agree that if he flips it would more than likely be to Tennessee. At least for now. With his size he reminds me a bit of Otis Reese, though. Maybe a safety for the first year or two.

I mean that happens all the time

I don't think it was a coincidence Ishmael Sopsher showed up to watch AU/LSU or that Wanya Morris took his OV for AU/UT. It's been reported a number of places including from his own recruiting coach that UGA isn't really recruiting him that hard anymore

UT appears to be the major threat & right now seems like they have all the momentum
