Just like Marve has Jak Brown. You’ll figure it out one day.

Nope, we've been done recruiting the DL for a while.
Not saying you're incorrect, but would State not make room for the #1 player in the state and the #10 DT in the nation? If they felt they had a real shot? I mean talent aside, the optics of "passing" on the top player from your own state can't be great

Figure what out? Brown was a LB. We are done recruiting the DL. You can have McKinnley and good luck with him.

He's neither. We got a DT from juco that would have to go elsewhere, or lose Cooley. I doubt that happens.

I agree nfl didn’t have to be such a jerk about it though!

Because I’m sure coaches sit on a computer and use recruiting rankings when they evaluate players and not their own evaluations.
Also he won’t be ranked there at the end of the year. Hayes and Cooley are better DTs with more upside.
There is a reason he doesn’t have a serious LSU or Bama offer.

So you’re comparing Jackson, a kid with dozens of offers to a kid like Cooley, who State beat out Austin Peay for, and who has half the production of Jackson despite playing roughly the same competition, who not only lacks “serious” Bama or LSU offers but any offer at all from any number of SEC schools, but you think is objectively better as evidenced by Jackson’s lack of “serious” Bama or LSU offer.
Ok
Ok

Based on what our coaches evaluations are, yes. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter until they both play through collage and see where they end up. But Jackson has dropped almost 100 spots in like a year so it’s not like he’s a can’t miss guy anymore. He has been well documented as having effort issues which isn’t ideal but can be fixed. But considering the number of D-line recruits state has put in the NFL recently I’m not going to be upset or judge until it stops happening.

And on the stats point, Montez Sweat was a consensus 3* out of high school and Juco and didn’t have great Juco stats and then came to the SEC and dominated so trying to use high school stats to project future ability is weak sometimes. Look at some of the stat leaders for high school players year to year, half of them aren’t D1 prospects or 4* or 5* guys.

I didn't say what your coaches thought. I simply said what he is, you said he wasn't, I showed you that he in fact was, and now you've pivoted to what your coaches believe (I assume they've told you this personally as well). My question was, do you honestly believe that State isn't pursuing the consensus #1 player in the state? I have a hard time believing that.

I'm with you on Hayes, but Cooley? seriously? The kid is barely a top 30 player in MS. You've got to be joking me. There's a reason nobody else is after him and it's not because State has the greatest talent evaluators in the world. Trust me.

He literally already decommited from LSU and has standing offers from both. How on Gods green earth would you know they aren't "serious" lol

You're right that some of the stats leaders each year aren't blue chip recruits, however saying "half" is simply ridiculous and factually inaccurate. There's countless studies that show hard numbers that even though there are blue chip busts and under dog studs, the vast majority of the time the rankings pan out

No offense but I am not going to take the word of an ole miss fan when it comes to evaluating defensive talent lol. And for the record Cooley was sent Verbal offers from Oregon and Tennessee a couple weeks ago. But I’m sure you know more than Pruitt on defensive evaluations. Again, it doesn’t really matter what they are now until they get to campus and show the dedication to being coached and play well. Sorry but I’d rather have the kid that wants to be coached and tries hard even if he has a little less talent compared to the guy that has documented effort issues already. But I know defensive effort is a foreign concept to you Ole Miss fans.

Irregardless to the other guys point, what we are saying is he probably won’t be a blue chip by the end of this cycle unless he really performs on the field.
Also I’ll take a coaches evaluation over a fan star gazing everyday of the week. I like 4-stars and getting them but you don't sell out for ones that are bad fits or look to be hilariously overrated.
Jackson was rated a 5-star at first because he out grew his class and ever since then he has dropped like a hot potato. If he was a guy who just got evaluated this summer, he’d be a three-star no doubt. Only reason he is still a 4-star is because they don’t want to drop a former 5-star that drastically. Even if he doesn’t drop to a three star, players who drop this much almost never pan out.

LOL ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!
Because OM fans on message boards recruit and evaluate for the OM football team? Message board posters have zero effect on how their favorite teams defense plays unless they are in the stadium providing crowd noise factor.

Really performing on the field isn’t an issue for Jackson. He’s had double digit sacks and high tackle numbers every year in HS.
Compared to Cooley who had 52 tackles and 4 sacks as a junior in a slightly weaker but comparative division.
Jackson needs to learn techniques, which almost every HS kid does, and maybe drop a couple lbs, though he’s not a super hefty 330.

Cooley is highly underrated because of his upside. He will get bumped up after the season and his offers will continue to rise.
