Mac McClung in the transfer portal. UT bound?

Saw where he withdrew from the draft and put his name in the portal. Early speculation I've seen is UT.

Really doubt we’d waste a scholarship on him given how loaded our backcourt will be for the foreseeable future

I am seeing the same rumor. I am hearing he would have to sit out a year but I thought we didn't have any scholarships available. Would he count against our scholarship limit this year even if he has to sit? Also, do we even want him? I don't know much about him.

Yes counts against the scholarship limit just as Bailey did this year, even as a sit out.
He would certainly be a nice addition as a sit out transfer.
Sister played for the SoccerVOLS and grandparents are season ticket holders for VOLS.
VOLS backcourt will be absolutely loaded over the next 2 years though so not sure it's a great fit.
Vescovi, Keon, Springer, JJJ, Bailey all have at least 2 years of eligibility left though I think Keon is likely 1 and done.
Then all those guys minus Keon and maybe Springer back the next year + you add Kennedy Chandler and another wing.
He would certainly be a nice addition as a sit out transfer.

This will be an interesting one to follow. Desperately wanted a UT offer out of HS and didn't get it and now he is transferring when Tennessee is loaded beyond belief on the wing. I would take him and tell Pember to git but will they?

Sounds like he is not a take for VOLS. Bad timing as he is one of the worst fits imaginable for current VOLS roster. Still wish we could take out some of the trash on the backend of the current roster but sounding like no dice.

Once again this shows why hiring a former player as a coach is generally a terrible idea. Go on Hoya message boards and it's like half of them defending Ewing still and the other half saying the program is stale and dead. Their roster looks like crap next year and their recruiting class sucks.
Ewing has really done a terrible job there, they've had so many players either transfer out or get kicked off the team. They've had 5 players transfer now on them since last season started, including now their best returning player. They had another 2 players transfer out last year.
Ewing's only hope is the season gets cancelled because this will likely be his worst season yet.
