Ah -- so we're better at paying kids than every other state including the rec? Awesome.
Did he turn down thousands of dollars from the REC to play at Miss St. ? Always wondered how that works.

Obviously when both sides are playing on a level field -- the kid is going to go where he wants to be.

So the level field indicates that you admit Miss St. cheats as well?

I'll never understand the accusations of Bama cheating from other schools. We're better than most schools at championships, putting guys in the league, etc. But when we get a recruit that others wanted, "Bama cheats".
If we are the only school paying players, while having success on the field, and sending kids to the NFL in droves, why would Bama ever lose a recruiting battle? Are there recruits out there that would turn down thousands of dollars and a new car to be a broke college student somewhere else?
Hell, I hate Auburn as much as most Bama fans, but if they offered me thousands of dollars on top of my scholarship and UA didn't, I'd be yelling "War Eagle."

Of course we do. To me, it's more about "keeping a level playing field" vs "buying players". It's a reactionary environment -- and literally everyone has to do it with every heavily recruited player in today's NCAA.

I still have my doubts that we get Lewis, but it definitely looks better for us.

I can understand why the kid would de-commit. Every blue chip player has dreams of bringing a perennial loser out of the cellar by themselves. But when they get there and realize just how hopeless the situation is it becomes too late and they end up fading into nothingness. It sucks but that's how it happens.

Btw, Chris Jones ain't fading to shite. He's about to help us win the SEC West.

I hate that I'm about to agree with engie...
This idea that college football is an auction and that players can simply be bought by the highest bidder completely ignores the wants and choices of the players themselves. Yes, money and bagmen are all involved from pretty much every school at this level, but ultimately the choice is the individual player's to make.
In short, Alabama fans need to stop acting like they're entitled to the services of blue chip athletes.

ps... Especially one's not in their own state.

Did he commit to the Dawgs? If so, great get. Dude seems like a beast.

No, he didn't commit. Probably the smartest thing to do at this point. With Bama, State, OM, all in it.

No chance he ends up at OM...tell your friend I said it

I was kinda joking about him going to OM , BuccWild... But you posting this actually gives us Rebears some confidence.
Just being 100% honest, I want Leo more than any other player in the State of MS, but if we don't get him I hope he goes to MSU... I want the bagmen in MS to continue to hold off Bama , LSU and AU for our blue chip guys... Even if that means losing them to our instate rival... And I say "our" because I've lived in Memphis for several years but I was raised in MS and spent the first 24 years of my life there.

Well the shoe is on the other foot too. Just because a kid is from Mississippi doesn't mean we should feel entitled to him. I want the best players on my team but I won't fault them for doing what's best for them and their families.

Instant drop on the recruiting sites, then "Bama didn't want/need him."

Your wrong. Caban isn't getting an offer from Bama. But keep questioning me
