Glad we got him but all the 5 stars mean nothing if your culture sucks and/or you can’t coach them up.
Mack Brown finished top 3 a few times but generally had a soft culture. OU with lower ranked classes regularly put a foot in our collective arse because they were tougher and being developed better. Just sayin’
The other issue is risk of having a locker room full of prima donna’s
This said, Sark has built a great culture and looks for guys that are coachable and have a good work ethic, regardless of where they rank.
But having some money certainly helps grease the wheels. I do hope they put some sort of cap or other mechanism in place to help level things out. Really don’t want 10-12 teams that can just muscle everyone else out w money.

I'm talking from experience. Jalen, Devonta and Jordan all went in the first round. Not saying they weren't in the rotation, but none of those guys were game changers their first year. He'll have to be extra special to do it in his first year. Look at Bama's guys. We didn't really know their names until their sophomore or junior years.
All of them come in early these days.
And yes, we know. All of your guys are day 1 picks.

Well before it was permissible to do so.

How many Georgia DL went in the first round of the draft last year? How many from Texas? You can’t claim better career opportunities anymore.
Why are we only choosing last year instead of the last few when UGA has around 5

You can’t, but most businesses aren’t profitable enough to burn marketing dollars on 18 year olds that aren’t very marketable. Outside of a a very committed subset of college football die hards, no one knows who these players are.
The local athletes are not only in commercials, but in stories and puff pieces on the local news.
HEB is going to advertise because they are good at it. They don’t need to, they already dominate the market. More and more athletes are showing up in commercials, as was the intent with NIL.

They are going to have to do a ton of baby sitting and I won't be surprised to see him in the portal to somewhere in a year or two, if he even makes it into year one.

I wonder how long it take for him to hit the portal. He doesn't seem very committed to any place.

You don’t typically see a player transfer out of a blue blood program if the money is good and they’re getting sufficient playing time. Georgia won’t be able to match what we offered or they would’ve so I wouldn’t get your hopes up.

And if so, we overpaid. Which backs up why you shouldn't be blowing a wad on a high schooler if your budget doesn't allow you to pay the guys already showing you they can play.
Like I said, the Texas budget may allow for it. Kelee was solid, but not a five star talent at the college level.

You guys are weird. You seem to get offended when we say you got him because you paid substantially more. Then you use that same argument to say why he won't transfer.

It’s pretty obvious we paid him more. I haven’t seen any Texas fan argue that in this thread. Why else would he travel so far away from home? You on the other hand have come off pretty butt hurt over the outcome of this recruitment.
I mean earlier you tried claiming it had to be a bunch more because Sark isn’t on the same plain as Kirby (despite having 2 DTs drafted higher than Kirby did last year). Or the fact that Alfred Collins turned from a 5th round mock to a 1-2 round pick this season.
Y’all got money whipped. That wasn’t the only reason he picked Texas tho (much like Dakorien Moore to Oregon).

How so? Have said repeatedly I don't blame him for taking the money.
Have said you guys can probably take the risk of him not panning out but taking a huge chunk of change and said we can't take that chance.
One of you seems to think he'll come in and immediately be all conference and I've said that's not normal and having to depend on that is not where a title contender should be.
Not sure what qualifies as butt hurt for you, but that's a low standard if it does.

We've had the same amount of DL drafted in the first round as Texas has overall since 2021. Yeah, it's safe to say Kirby is better at developing DL talent. Especially since two of those 4 first rounders were 3 star players.

How long both sides going to beat this dead horse?
It’s done, let’s just see what happens.
