Tell me about all the evaluation they put into Burrow. Checked his pulse and asked him if he liked gumbo?
Don’t figure it was too rigorous since they did such a great job evaluating and developing the other two guys you listed.

Both of which are entering just their 2nd season, Narcisse is coming off 2 ACL tears form high school and Brennan simply isn't physically ready yet. 1 would have played this year, but Burrow popped up, who they feel can be better this season. IF you can go out and feel like you can upgrade your QB position right now, you do it.

Is it that much different than recruiting in general? You do have actual college game tape and college practice film of them is the main difference. Brought in for official visit, and secured his commitment and thus transfer.
Not sure how you or any person could definitely say they "Suck" at evaluating QBs until we really see how they play the next few years. You guys have no clue. All we know so far is all 3 were pretty highly regarded and former 4-stars. Burrow competing for starting job in a very crowded and talented QB room at tOSU who churns out good QB after good QB under Meyer, including the backups. Everyone was saying Etling was trash going into last year and he ended up with a 150+ passer rating and drafted by the Patriots

So cute watching state actually think this kid is going to Starkville.
One 9 win season and now they’re going to steal out of state kids from LSU, Georgia and Florida State.
Fuching adorable.

Exactly. And they didn’t have to do any evaluating to know he was better than the other two options they had.

Brennan couldn’t beat out Etling, Narcisse hasn’t done squat and Burrow was second string at Ohio State. How bout you pump the brakes.

The "new staff" helped Danny Etling get drafted. Quarterback development has not been good, but the new staff needs time before you assume the same ol' "LSU can't develop a QB". Brennan and Narcisse were both highly recruited. I refuse to believe all the schools who recruited them are poor at evaluating talent.

No. Danny Etling got Danny Etling drafted. He likely showed some little spark of something at Pro Day or his workouts that made the Patriots feel they could take a 7th round flyer on the guy. If it works, great. If not, he's a 7th rounder. some UDFAs make more than Danny will make this year.

I think you missed the point of my post. The knock against Miles/Staff was LSU's offense is anemic and we can't develop a QB. 100% true. Miles/Staff are out. New staff in. This "LSU can't evaluate/develop talent" mindset should have left with the exit of Miles. It's not that LSU, the school, can't develop a QB. It's the coaching staff in place that couldn't. Ensminger deserves a chance to change that perception.

I dont think you understand how that works at all. There are hundreds of football transfers that pop up every offseason, you do your work on those guys and if they're good enough to improve you at certain position and you feel they would make you better you try and get them. You absolutely are evaluating those guys, you dont just blindly take someone

A true freshman at about 180 pounds didnt beat out a 5th year senior who actually played pretty decent? Good one there.

Narcisse hasn’t done squat
No shite? He was a true freshman that redshirted last year you dolt, he was recovering from double ACL injuries from high school.
quote:
Burrow was second string at Ohio State.
IS that supposed to be a bad thing? Most of their fanbase was hoping he would start this year, they have been pretty deep at QB there for quite a while under Meyer.

How many more baseless useless opinions can we come up with in this thread at this point.

Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, A&M, Kentucky - that's about the only surefire teams that MAY start one of those three QBs. The rest of the SEC is pretty strong. That would mean my 75% was a little high. So let's say 60% of the SEC wouldn't start any of your QBs.

Auburn wanted Narcisse pretty bad. Ole Miss was coming hard after Brennan. Neither would be starting for either team this year, but you'd have to like their chances as Redshirt Sophomores going into 2019 season....

So by saying we stocked up some highly touted QBs is perfectly bumpable but it's perfectly ok to say "the staff sucks at evaluating and developing QBs" based on quite literally none of these guys really playing much yet

Sounds like a lot more future bump material me.

And again all means absolutely nothing right now. How many of you Ole Miss fans were exclaiming Ta'amu would be starting over Patterson and is better at this point last year? I sure didn't see that on here.
How many people said Etling sucked prior to the season and he ended up the #3 QB in the conference in passer rating and then even got drafted

John Emery couldn't start at QB for any SEC team.

Haha. Thanks for getting this thread back on track. He could probably be the QB in a wildcat package lol. Want this guy at LSU bad.
