Info here

quote:

"He did sign on Dec. 18, but he wanted to wait to release it so he could preserve that moment and sign with his friends in February," said Shelly Hardy, the player's mother. Hardy, who is listed at 6-feet-4, 280 pounds, is the No. 3 recruit in Tennessee and the No. 102 recruit nationally in the industry generated 247Sports Composite.

He was outed by a member of VOLS internet who had access to the registry, and that info ended up with a beat writer and was subsequently put on Twitter

There were several teams recruiting him. Is this going to be secondary violations now? Like LSU got with Matt Womack in 2015?

This is unequivocally false.

But tell yourself whatever helps you sleep at night I guess.

To be fair... I hate these games recruits play these days.

Lol there were posters on a select VOLS board that were adamant he signed in ESP, as well as Darnell Washington.

That same board is where the screenshot of Hardy’s NLI that’s circling twitter originated. Only reason he posted said screenshot was due to VOLS having 3 coaches at McCallie last night still wasting their time with him.

It’s bizarre that it’s just now coming out but we’ve known for a while that he was signed and delivered to Rotnei.

On Saturday afternoon, news broke that Jay Hardy, a 4-star defensive lineman from Chattanooga, had officially signed with Auburn. Almost a month after the Early Signing Period, Hardy’s signature had seemingly finally come in for the Tigers and ended the rumors that he would eventually go with his in-state team in the Volunteers, who had still been courting him over the last month.

If Tennessee’s coaching staff would have been paying attention, that recruiting would have ended on Dec. 18, 2019.

According to a source, the fact that Hardy had signed with the Tigers had been public information to coaches since last month as it was visible in the NCAA compliance portal.

Were the Vols coaches privy to the fact that they could just look it up? Nope. Did they continue to visit Hardy, with the recruit possibly telling them that his signature was still available? Most likely.

Yet the game continued and, the fact of the matter is, this all falls on the Tennessee coaching staff.

How is it possible that none of them knew that a place existed where they could simply look to see if a player had signed? That must be shocking to a large group of fans of the Volunteers. Each coach is given a sign-in and password for the site so he can keep track of where someone has possibly signed.

If they knew the site existed, which is doubtful, did it not come up once to check? What is going on inside the halls in Knoxville? Is Jeremy Pruitt awake?

While Hardy wasn’t exactly truthful with the coaching staff in Knoxville, it is hard to blame a kid for wanting more attention during the recruiting process.

In the end, the Volunteers’ staff comes across badly, as if they are ill-prepared in the recruiting process while Auburn knew for a month that they had him signed, didn’t let on and now have a top recruit coming to campus.

Correct, the information is readily available to anyone in any college compliance department so who knows how it took so long for this to come out.

Germy will just have to stick to owning Auburn on the gridiron (where he is 4-1 as a coordinator and 1-0 as HC)

He owns them already. Rest assured he won’t serve up a biennial choke job in Jordan Hare like little Nicky

He already canceled his visit to UT.

Was supposedly flirting with Bama.

Congrats on helping Bama out.

Sounds cute, not true though

quote:

Tennessee checked the website where signings are confirmed at midnight on the final day of the ESP and Hardy wasn’t there. Whereas Darnell Washington and Zach Evans to UGA were. Just like they did last year to confirm Hazelwood to OU. It was posted the following week as apparently the league office is sometimes delayed in getting things on the site. At some point after you have checked when the ESP has ended with nothing there you take people at their word. Tennessee did and they obviously were lied too just like I was lied to and other media members. It is what it is. Nothing from a violation standpoint will come out of this I’m told.

His NLI was sent on the 18th.

Not when this can happen and when they are plenty of staffers within the program.
