Arkansas has picked up commitment No. 15 from Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian WR Jared Cornelius. @officialjred

Announcing between Arkansas and Mizzou.

It seems like Arkansas may be out front in this one, but Mizzou was his most recent visit.

What is everyone hearing?

Depends if he wants to stay in the style of offense like his High Schools. If that is the case he will go to Mizzou.

They still think they're in the Big12.

I don't know what their board looks like or what the current make up of their D-line looks like, as far as class goes. But there was an in state DE 6'3" 245 from St Louis that just got offered from Nebraska yesterday. His previous leader was Purdue. I don't think Mizzou is pursuing him. Which baffles me. They've got a lot of talent in state this year and they're letting it get away.

I know it is crazy if they just locked up in state they would have a top 15 class but it doesn't look like they will get one inside their top 5

They have an in-state OL class that most schools would kill for. 4 or 5 pretty big time OTs. But I'm sure a couple of them could play inside as well. That's the kind of foundation the team needs to be built on, but they're going to miss out on like the top 3 OL in state.

It's not just Bauer. Sure he is a part of it. But look at all the top players in the state. He is just but one example. Lots of KSU and Neb commits coming out of Missouri. Arky may end up with 3 or so as well.

What's up with this? Is Pinkel that bad of a recruiter?

First, I don't think he's ever been a "great" recruiter but he's done decent, and certainly has done better recently within the state. So take a so-so recruiter and throw on top of that a 5-7 season last year and there are lots of questions about the program. Throw on top of that all of the head coaching uncertainty that there is and it's tough to convince anyone to come there right now. Within the state, there is a very large contingency(including big boosters) that are not sure that Pinkel is the right guy. Further, his contract wasn't extended, so even if he has a good season this year, there is uncertainty if he'll be there in a couple years. It's all just a perfect storm to lead to where they are right now in recruiting. Getting out to a 5-0 start(4 OOC games and a win over Vandy) is imperative.

And obviously, the staff is still working Bauer pretty hard. But if I remember correctly, I think Bauer plans on enrolling early, which makes it extremely unlikely Mizzou will flip him. I think in order to have had a chance to flip him, it would have required a good season this year but by the time the season is over, it's too late in that instance.

LA has some crazy good WR talent this year. 7 to be exact. (Dupre, Noil, Quinn, Sims, Cornelius, Chark, and Corey McBride)

ETA: Is Michael Smith recruiting Cornelius for Arky? His family lives right down the street from mine.. incredibly nice people.

I would think so, because he's a WR and he's in LA. But Arky may have a North LA guy and a South LA guy due to proximity. Smith is their NOLA guy for sure.

That was my first thought as well.

Yeah, that's a good point. If he were still at K-State, he would likely have free roam in the state of Louisiana, but given the close proximity between Evangel and the state of Arkansas, I can see someone else likely handling his recruitment as well.

He was the guy that got Cornelius Lucas and Daniel Sam to K-State? I was wondering what the connection was.

ETA: I'm going to update this thread when the announcement hits twitter, but I don't know what time he's doing that and I've got errands to run.

Correct, he was.

He prepped at Jesuit, I believe. Then played for Coach Snyder at K-State. I believe his brother also coaches somewhere.. not sure exactly where, though.
