Have there been any reports about Justin Ebougbie's visit last weekend?

How interested is UGA?

Are you going to go with the prediction that UGA will not sign a higher ranked CB? Good luck.

Actually if you look at our board there was a rumor that we had two players (After haselwood) getting ready to decommit because of better players....that post was made2-3 days ago. Not sayign it was a fact, but the post was made, and now this happened.

DeBary from Rivals saying Kirby told Jalen Perry and JD Bertrand we don’t have room and they’ll be decommitting soon. Anyone else hear this?
This post was from 10/3.

Again...not saying this is what is happening, but since it was reported before Perry decommitted, it does lend some credibility to it.

Maybe, but Florida, in my opinion, is showing pretty good progress. You are coming off a 4 win season, and are already looking pretty good.

Rumors are flying. He is talking about Nick Cross, though, I think.

Sure. I'm not saying it's not true just that some of you guys have been saying this for a while now, so I figured you'd claim that was the reason here.

We had one guy say it about Haselwood, and almost everybody else shot him down. Haselwood was a legit loss and it hurt.

I really did not believe we were asking Bertrand and Perry to look around, but now I am not too sure. I guess only time will tell.

I have heard that we are in it big time for Tyrique Stevenson and Lewis Cine, and are pursuing Kaiir Elam, Nick Cross and Kyle Hamilton hoping to get Cine, Stevenson and one of the others....maybe two.

I like him a lot. I don't know about the coaches. Seem like we slow played him earlier.
I am hearing we are going hard after Chris Hinton, but I really like Eboigbe. If you guys hang on to him he will be a really good get.

That's not the post I was talking about. There was another post, probably buried in one of the Haselwood threads that I can't find now, that said y'all had a couple of commits that were going to be going elsewhere to make room for bigger fish. Whoever posted this was NOT saying that this applied to losing Haselwood.

I'm just surprised to see that one of the guys y'all were pushing out was a solid 4* from your home state. Admittedly, I'm not intimately familiar with your recruiting, so I was wondering if the guy is overrated by the services. Normally, when LSU does this with a guy from in-state, it's a much lower rated recruit. We usually don't offer* in-state guys unless we are 100% about taking them.

* Edit: when I say offer, I mean commitable offer

The way LSU handles Louisiana kids is similar to how UGA handles Georgia kids.

With this situation, it's likely that Perry was slightly overrated based on junior season performance. Also should be noted that it happened this early in the cycle for a reason, and wasn't a case where his scholarship was pulled.

From what has been said, seems that our coaches were pretty honest with him about who is currently on the roster, who is coming this cycle (public and not), and the impact this would have on his ability to get playing time. Was encouraged to look around and evaluate his options.

Well, he got that from our recruiting board. The original post from our board called out specific names, and one of those names was Perry. That is the link in my post above.

I am surprised, too, to be honest. I mean, in a way I could see Perry. We are in it for 2-3 really good DB's. But still...I would think it is unusual for a home state kid.

That said, Perry was the 10th highest recruit in our class.

I've heard people say that. I also heard that we wanted him to play safety and he wanted to play CB. I honestly don't know. But, by all accounts he is a very good, high character kid. I hope he finds a good landing spot and he does well.

Jalen Perry has picked up his 2nd & 3rd CBs (from Steve Wiltfong & Demetric Warren) to South Carolina since he decommitted.

ETA: A 4th Gamecocks CB from Dawgs247 mod Kipp Adams.

this move has probably been in the works for awhile. Wouldn't be surprised to see Perry commit to USCjr soon. Good luck to him there. This wasn't a loss for UGA and I think it's good that UGA let's these guys know early enough in process to find a soft landing.

Now Haselwood was definitely unscripted. When we lost DB DJ Daniel to USCjr - we were told he was a "take" - so kudos to Cocks on that one.

UGA has to careful about the way it's dropping in-state kids. Some Georgia HS coaches are beginning to take issue.

That's just stupid, Georgia has mountains of HS talent and we can't take them all. With these new early commits sometimes it will not work out, you are doing the kid a favor to go somewhere he will be useful.

UGA produces how many D1 prospects a year and recruits beyond our borders and we can take 25 a year. If teams are getting butthurt that we can't keep them all than that's on them. The objective is to recruit the best players and sometimes that means Georgia kids not getting in. We let 3 or 4 go last year. It's just how it is. As long as we are honest with the kid then I have no issue with it. Just don't string him along all the way till the end and tell him to kick wood. That I don't like.

I feel like Wildgoose last year was a case where we took that one later than I agree with.
