Looks to be a good transfer - 2021 class with 4 years of eligibility left.

LINK /

Out of Katy, TX with HS offers from most of the big boys in Bama, LSU, Texas, Ok, A&M, Fl, Ohio St, Penn St, etc...

Not sure why he is leaving FSU after 9 months but I hope he settles in Starkville. He may be covering the inside WR's at his size of 5' 11" and 188lbs.

All of a sudden CB's, a position of need, has become a strength. This makes the 2nd - 4 star CB transfer to go along with the #1 JuCo CB and another 3 star CB that may play safety in this class to go with the group already there. DB's are shaping up very nicely.

Looks like it was because he got passed on the depth chart

quote:

The second year corner is a former four-star recruit from Texas who looked to be getting lost in the shuffle during spring practice.

Washington was FSU's Special Teams Scout Player of the Year as a true freshman last season, but he played in just one game and was redshirted. Meanwhile, two other freshman corners -- Omarion Cooper and Kevin Knowles II -- carved out starting roles by the end of the 2021 campaign. This spring, Washington pushed to get into the two-deep but the emergence of rookies Azareye'h Thomas and Sam McCall probably signified that Washington's ability to start at FSU in the near future was limited.

How can you call it a strength when this guy hasn't really even played?

That statement was not based on just this one guy.

State only lost one guy that made an impact from last years' team. Emerson will be drafted this week (maybe
to 10th CB taken in draft).

State had one really good corner returning in Emmanuel Forbes. Then D Richardson a jr that has seen lots of playing time and even some starts is still here. From what I hear from camp he is looking pretty good.

Those are your most likely starters for now but:

State added these CB's this year:

* #1 JuCo
* 4 star from Bama - Marcus Banks that has seen playing time at Bama but was not expected to start
* This guy from FSU - a former 4 star himself
* *3 Jackie Matthews SR transfer - started at W VA

Due to these additions the guys that were backups here last year are further down the depth chart and one of the new guys may even push for a starting role.

We were extremely concerned as a fanbase going into the offseason about the CB position an now it looks like they should be in pretty good shape.

He was a true freshman as well. FSU signed three good ones and two of them are going to be starters next year. He is the odd man out so that makes sense that he is leaving to me.

He may be the odd man out of the three but he has 4 years of eligibility left and a 4 star guy.

Don't say for a minute you wouldn't take him at Ole Miss. He may not start at either of schools next year but he has 4 years to make an impact here. Time to grind

He didn't break the two deep in spring

I was thinking he did get in two deep. He will be pretty good one.

He will be good, but Richardson and Forbes are gonna be tough to beat out for the starting jobs.

Yes, but both are upper class men and State will play the best 5 DB’s.

Most of their CB’s are bigger and are good tacklers so you may see 3 or even 4 CB’s on the field at once provided they can handle the run support responsibilities.

They converted the Five star from Texas from CB to safety last year and he seemed to fit that role better. He is still there as well.

Leach bringing him in to boost his WRs confidence during practices.

I don’t think that will even help
Them. Ole miss just got their second receiver to transfer as a walk on instead of staying on scholarship with them?

Green is better suited to safety because he's not fast enough to be a CB.

But I agree we should be in good shape at CB.

Not since Jimbo left.

And tbh, in Jimbo's last year he practically stopped recruiting.

Who did you get? Heath? Great athlete but just disappears for games at a time. I never could figure out that guy. He had great plays with flashes of brilliance and then nothing for a month.

State has the WR’s, I have no worries there. It’s the OL. They get that settled and State will finally see the Leach era in its finest.

My concern with us is safety and LB. If the offense isn't working this year it's all on Leach. The players are there.

OL still has to be worked out but I think it will be OK.

Safeties? They will play the best 5 DB's and they should be good there but LB? I have no idea how that will work, I know some young talent should be there but are they ready for SEC ball?
