The early signing day is a new dynamic that changed college football. This year, most teams had 75% of their commitments based on film, evaluations, and rankings of high school juniors.

Mack Brown pioneered this at Texas, to his ultimate demise.

Surprise! Surprise! some kids make quantum leaps from their junior to senior years. Admittedly, Owens is a raw talent, but his measurables are elite for the NFL. For a college to make 300-400 offers and Owens not make the cut, Yeah for Texas, Boo for everyone else.

Given, maybe some didn't make offers because they he was 100% committed.

For the elite programs, they have the pedigree to wait on the late bloomers. for the others, well ...

That is why Southern California is a good place to supplement talent because for the most part their recruits commit later.
Don't know now with 15-20 schools taking over USC's pipeline.

But...It is much better to wait until their senior season.
Forcing these players to commit between their Junior and Senior year will ultimately hurt aggy.

Talk about lack of situational awareness

14 (OVER HALF) of your 24 commits/signees committed between their junior and senior years (1 in 2017)

Of the 10 that didn't, 1 was JUCO and 1 was basically tampered with.

2 were JUCOs.

Jimbo sped up the process plus you should have some of the players you are confident about committing early.

In an ideal world Tom Herman can wait till November.

Especially with a player like Wright who was Texas' fallback option.

Why are you still going? Who pulled your string again? No cares about your poor recruiting strategy, made up reasons why so and so picked wherever, and how deep Herman can shove his dick down your throat.

As much as aggy crowed all year Texas is finishing with a better class...

Plus the legit 2020 recruits are all looking at Texas.

So whatever Herman is doing is working.
I think he learned a lot last year about dealing with Jimbo.
Have to give Jimbo some credit.

Texas “led” for every in-state battle this year, and we’re straight up whipped in the state.

Be prepared for more disappointment in 2020

Of course. The sites like 247 and Rivals will ALWAYS make certain of that - need the money from the SWTS grads that need an identity. Texas may have the best 7 on 7 team, but their overall recruiting is garbage outside of WR and DB. I'd expect that to continue. And Herman will be forced to do it again next year. He has to go after those OOS kids that don't already know how freaking weird he is, because the in-state ones are on to his act.

As for the best recruiting class ever at A&M? Nope. Not even close - we routinely trounced them on signing day and on the field when I was in school.

Class Rankings didn't start until 2002. Under that standard, this is A&M's highest rated class.

The point is that it is like NFL Draft grades, or it should be. How did the school address their needs? It's not just about taking stars and trying to force them into their plan. Mack Brown was famous for that, and he even said that the recruiting services artificially inflating recruits creates unrealistic expectations

Muschamp is on record saying this artificial inflations of rankings happens, and specifically referenced Texas.

It's a fact of life that A&M has to live with. If we are getting the majority of our first offers, you cannot do much more than that, and Fisher got most of the elite talent in Texas last year. OU got the second most

Texas, to their credit, did a good job going outside the state to salvage talent, but I would argue that their class is very lopsided when talking about legit, non-artificially inflated talent.

Good at WR, good at DB, and terrible on the lines. As usual

What can I say? When you're wrong, you're DEAD arse wrong:

Texas Top 50:

A&M - #1, #2, #8, #11, #12, #13, #16, #23, #26, #28, #40 (if he makes grades), #45

t.u. - #6, #9, #18, #24, #29, #31, #41 (until he flips to A&M next week)

So let's recap.

A&M got the top 2, t.u. got 0
A&M got 2 of the top 5, t.u. got 0
A&M got 3 of the top 10, t.u. got 2
A&M got 6 of the top 15, t.u. got 2
A&M got 7 of the top 20, t.u. got 3
A&M got 8 of the top 25, t.u. got 4
A&M got 10 of the top 30, t.u. got 5
A&M got 11 of the top 40, t.u. got 6
A&M got 12 of the top 50, t.u. got 7 (when #41 flips to A&M, the Aggies will have 13 of the top 50 while t.u. will have 6.

Simple math:

2 > 0
3 > 2
6 > 2
7 > 3
8 > 4
10 > 5
11 > 6
12 > 7 (13 > 6)

So, as you can see, one team did indeed dominate another in state, but the complete opposite of what you claim.

Texas is signing huge OLine classes in 2020 and 2021.

They signed a huge OL class in 2018.

Texas will be signing huge DLine classes in 2020 and 2021.

In 18 and 19 they have brought in 6 DL on a 3 man front.

an advancement in aggy culture, usually it's making a claim that everyone refutes.
